TCS Set To Deploy Treasury Platform At Indian Bank’s Colombo Branch

CW Bureau ·

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the IT services and consulting major, will deploy its TCS BaNCS for Treasury platform at Indian Bank’s Colombo branch in Sri Lanka, extending the technology partnership with the public sector lender beyond India.

The deployment marks the entry of TCS BaNCS for Treasury into Sri Lanka and follows its implementation across Indian Bank’s domestic operations and its GIFT City operations in Gujarat.

The expansion is aimed at modernising the treasury operations of Indian Bank’s Colombo branch by integrating money markets, investment management and foreign exchange activities on a single platform.

The integrated system will enable unified deal processing, real-time visibility into treasury positions, tighter risk and limit controls, and regulatory reporting. It is also expected to reduce manual intervention, improve straight-through processing and strengthen audit readiness.

Unified treasury operations across markets

The platform will provide Indian Bank’s Sri Lankan operations with a consolidated view of positions, limits, liquidity and exposures across financial instruments and currencies.

It is expected to improve control over foreign exchange and market risk exposures while enabling faster deal execution and settlement cycles. The system will also support regulatory compliance and strategic decision-making through improved visibility into treasury operations.

Indian Bank’s Chief Executive Officer for Sri Lanka Operations, S Viswanathan, said the bank needed a platform that could support the growth of its treasury business with greater control, transparency and operational agility.

He said TCS BaNCS for Treasury had already demonstrated its capabilities across the bank’s Indian operations and GIFT City business, providing a modern foundation to address evolving banking requirements.

TCS strengthens banking technology partnership
TCS said it would support the deployment and continued maintenance of the platform, facilitating integration with Indian Bank’s existing systems and international market infrastructure.

Tata Consultancy Services’ Global Head of Financial Solutions, Venkateshwaran Srinivasan, said treasury transformation involved more than automation, requiring banks to operate with greater speed, insight and confidence in dynamic market conditions.

He said the partnership would bring together treasury functionality, operational resilience and regulatory capabilities to help Indian Bank modernise its overseas operations.

The deployment extends the existing relationship between the two organisations, with the Colombo implementation building on the technology platform already used by Indian Bank in India and GIFT City.

For Indian Bank, the move represents a step towards standardising treasury processes across geographical markets while strengthening risk management, operational efficiency and regulatory reporting in its international business.
