Uday Jewellery Expands Job-Work Model, Adds Plain Gold Jewellery

CW Bureau ·

Uday Jewellery Industries Ltd, a Hyderabad-based manufacturer and B2B supplier of natural gemstone-studded fashion jewellery and polki diamond-studded bridal jewellery, is expanding its business through new manufacturing and product initiatives.

The company is developing a job-work model for large customers, introducing lightweight plain gold jewellery as a new focus area and exploring supply tie-ups with major corporate clients.

Job-work model to improve efficiency

Under the proposed job-work model, customers will supply the gold, while Uday Jewellery will manufacture the jewellery and earn fees for its services.

The arrangement is expected to help the company handle larger volumes without a corresponding increase in its gold inventory, improving working capital efficiency and capacity utilisation.

Lightweight jewellery expands portfolio

The company is also developing lightweight plain gold jewellery to address growing demand in the category.

“Demand in this category is growing, and it sits naturally alongside our gemstone-studded and CZ-studded collections, allowing us to offer our retail partners a broader portfolio,” the management said.

The new category is expected to complement the company’s existing collections and widen its offerings to retail partners.

Corporate supply tie-ups under consideration

Uday Jewellery is exploring supply arrangements with a few large corporate clients for its jewellery products. The discussions are at a preliminary stage, and no definitive agreement, memorandum of understanding or binding commitment has been executed.

The company’s initiatives are aimed at expanding its customer base while improving manufacturing efficiency and broadening its product portfolio.

Four generations of manufacturing expertise

Uday Jewellery said its strengths lie in design and manufacturing capabilities developed over four generations. Its in-house facilities include computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM), 3D printing and laser engraving.

The company aims to build a more efficient and wider-reaching business while creating long-term value for its stakeholders.
