Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has revealed the safety features of its upcoming intelligent utility vehicle, the BAYON, ahead of its launch on October 26, 2026. The vehicle will feature more than 80 advanced safety features, including 23 Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technologies.
Built on the Global K Enhanced Platform, the BAYON features a reinforced body structure, high-strength steel construction, six airbags as standard and an extensive suite of active and passive safety technologies.
Reinforced body structure for occupant protection
Hyundai said the BAYON’s body structure incorporates 69% Advanced Multi-Grade High-Strength Steel, including hot-stamped steel, Ultra High Strength Steel, Advanced High Strength Steel and High Strength Steel.
Hot-stamped components have been used in critical areas such as the front apron, dashboard, rear floor and side reinforcements. Hot-stamped rear-floor side members are designed to enhance rear-impact protection, while the vehicle’s dual-box construction, multiple load paths and ring-type structure help distribute crash energy and reduce the risk of cabin intrusion.
The company said the vehicle has been engineered to meet five-star Indian safety standards.
23 ADAS technologies for safer driving
The Hyundai BAYON’s SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS package includes forward collision warning and avoidance systems, blind-spot collision avoidance, lane keeping assistance, driver attention warning and safe exit warning.
The suite also features rear cross-traffic collision warning and avoidance, surround view monitor, blind-spot view monitor, smart cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, lane following assist, high-beam assist and highway driving assist.
Navigation-based smart cruise control functions are designed to provide assistance on curves and designated road zones.
The ADAS package uses three radars and 12 parking sensors to support driver awareness and manoeuvring. The surround view monitor provides a view around the vehicle, while the blind-spot view monitor displays areas that may not be visible through conventional mirrors.
More than 35 standard safety features
Hyundai said the BAYON will offer more than 35 standard safety features across all variants.
These include six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist control, tyre pressure monitoring, emergency stop signal, three-point seatbelts with reminders, ISOFIX child-seat anchors, rear parking sensors, a roll-over sensor and a burglar alarm.
The vehicle will also feature all-wheel disc brakes and a reinforced chassis as part of its safety package.
Commenting on the safety technologies, Hyundai Motor India Managing Director and CEO Tarun Garg said the BAYON combines a robust body structure, advanced safety technologies and intelligent driver assistance systems to deliver a comprehensive safety experience.
Ten exterior colour options
The Hyundai BAYON will be available in 10 exterior colour options across monotone, dual-tone and matte finishes.
Monotone options include Titanium Black, Classy Blue, Atlas White, Fiery Red, Golden Bronze and Ecotronic Grey. Dual-tone options comprise Atlas White with a black roof and Fiery Red with a black roof. Titanium Black Matte and Classy Blue Matte will be the two matte options.
Launch date and bookings
The Hyundai BAYON will be launched in India on October 26, 2026. Customers can book the vehicle through Hyundai’s official website or authorised dealerships with a booking amount of ₹11,000.
The company said delivery timelines will be communicated at the time of launch.
