Cordelia Cruises Deploys Sky and Empress Ships From Mumbai & Kochi

CW Bureau ·

Cordelia Cruises has expanded its operations in India, with Cordelia Sky sailing from Mumbai and Cordelia Empress beginning its season from Kochi. The move marks the company’s deployment of two ships from two Indian homeports simultaneously.

The expansion increases the company’s deployed capacity and broadens its domestic and international itineraries, including weekend sailings, Goa and Lakshadweep cruises, and international journeys to the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Mumbai and Kochi anchor cruise operations

Cordelia Sky departed Mumbai on its inaugural guest sailing, while Cordelia Empress began its onward journey towards its new homeport in Kochi.

“Seeing Cordelia Sky and Cordelia Empress sailing together was a very special moment for all of us. Mumbai has been central to our journey from the beginning, and adding Kochi as a homeport allows us to take cruising closer to many more travellers across India,” Cordelia Cruises, President and CEO, Jurgen Bailom, said.

Multiple itineraries from Mumbai

Cordelia Sky will operate two- and three-night weekend cruises, four-night Lakshadweep cruises and five-night itineraries combining destinations such as Goa and Lakshadweep. The ship can accommodate 2,280 guests at full occupancy.

The Kochi programme includes two-night weekend sailings, three- and four-night Lakshadweep cruises, and a five-night international itinerary connecting Kochi with Malé in the Maldives and Colombo in Sri Lanka.

Lakshadweep and international routes expand

The season will also strengthen Cordelia’s presence in Lakshadweep, with sailings offering access to Kavaratti and Minicoy. The itineraries provide travellers with short and extended cruise holiday options from India’s western and south-western coasts.

Since commencing operations in 2021, Cordelia Cruises has welcomed more than 800,000 guests, contributing to the growth of cruising as a holiday option for Indian travellers.

The company plans to expand its fleet further, with Cordelia Sun scheduled to join in 2027. The addition is expected to support its plans to increase capacity, widen destination choices and improve access to cruise holidays from India.
