Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has launched the Hyundai BAYON, an intelligent utility vehicle, at an introductory price of ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), featuring a generative AI voice assistant, Level 2 Pro advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and connected-car technologies.
The new SUV, developed around the company’s philosophy of “Intelligence That Moves”, combines digital connectivity, safety features and cabin comfort. Manufactured in India, the BAYON will also be exported to more than 50 international markets.
Hyundai Motor India Managing Director and CEO Tarun Garg said the BAYON marked the beginning of the company’s next product cycle in India. He described it as a technology-led offering designed to meet customer demand for safer, smarter and more connected mobility.
Generative AI and connected technology
The BAYON is Hyundai’s first SUV in India to feature an integrated generative AI voice assistant, incorporating Intelligence by Perplexity and voice AI technology powered by SoundHound AI.
The system enables conversational interactions and provides information on subjects including travel, weather, hotels, restaurants, news and sports.
Its connected-car navigation cockpit, accelerated by NVIDIA, integrates navigation, connected services and vehicle controls across dual 12.3-inch displays forming a panoramic interface.
Other features include more than 70 Hyundai Bluelink connected functions, over-the-air updates for up to 19 controllers, more than 500 embedded voice commands and support for 10 regional and two international languages.
The SUV also offers wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Bose premium sound system and three years of complimentary Bluelink connectivity.
Level 2 Pro ADAS and structural safety
Built on Hyundai’s Global K Enhanced Platform, the BAYON incorporates more than 80 safety features and 23 driver assistance functions under Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS.
The system uses three radars and 12 parking sensors, alongside camera and navigation-based technologies, to assist drivers in various driving conditions.
Features include Highway Driving Assist, navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, Surround View Monitor and Blind-spot View Monitor. All-wheel disc brakes are also offered.
Hyundai said 69% of the vehicle’s body structure uses advanced multi-grade high-strength steel to improve structural rigidity and occupant protection.
More than 35 safety features are standard across all variants, including six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Focus on comfort and practicality
The BAYON has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm and offers 505 litres of boot space. Its cabin features include ventilated front seats, an electrically adjustable eight-way driver seat, two-step rear seat reclining, automatic climate control and rear air-conditioning vents.
Additional equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone charging, USB-C ports, a push-button start system and 60:40 split rear seats.
The launch strengthens Hyundai’s technology-led product portfolio in India, while the planned exports to more than 50 markets underline the country’s role in the company’s global manufacturing and export strategy.
