Jeep Compass Sport With 9-Speed Automatic Launched At ₹21.99 Lakh

CW Bureau ·

Jeep India has launched the Compass Sport FWD with a nine-speed automatic transmission at ₹21.99 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most affordable automatic version of the premium SUV in the country.

The new variant introduces an automatic transmission in the entry-level Compass range for the first time, as the automaker seeks to make the SUV more accessible to customers looking for driving convenience without compromising on performance and features.

Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second week of November through Jeep dealerships and Stellantis Brand Houses across India.

170 HP diesel engine
The Compass Sport 9AT is powered by a 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbo diesel engine producing 170 HP and 350 Nm of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The combination is designed to deliver smoother gear shifts and more convenient driving in everyday traffic conditions.

Stellantis India Automotive Brands Business Head and Director Kumar Priyesh said the introduction of the automatic transmission in the Sport variant would make the Jeep Compass experience more accessible while retaining its characteristic design, capability and driving dynamics.

Safety and connectivity features
The new variant comes with six airbags, Auto Hold and cruise control. Its infotainment system features a 21.3 cm Uconnect touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Other features include steering-mounted controls, electrically adjustable door mirrors and Frequency Selective Damping suspension, designed to improve ride comfort across varying road conditions. Dynamic Steering Torque technology is intended to enhance steering response and handling.

Customers can also opt for an accessory package priced at ₹29,900. It includes ambient lighting, a dashcam with predictive safety features, exterior Swoosh decals, all-weather floor mats and mud flaps.

Automatic option expands Compass range
The launch expands the Compass portfolio, which offers manual and automatic transmission options alongside two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations.

By introducing an automatic transmission at the entry level, Jeep is targeting buyers who want the convenience of an automatic SUV at a lower price point within the Compass range.

The ₹21.99 lakh starting price places the new variant as an additional entry point into Jeep’s premium SUV portfolio. Its market performance will depend on how effectively the company attracts customers seeking a combination of diesel performance, automatic driving convenience and premium features.
