Swiggy, the food delivery and on-demand convenience platform, has renewed its comprehensive insurance programme for delivery partners in partnership with IndusInd General Insurance Company, with more than 25 lakh delivery partners covered under its accident and health insurance programmes in FY26.
The renewed programme provides accidental death cover of ₹10 lakh, hospitalisation cover of up to ₹2 lakh and family health coverage of up to ₹1 lakh, strengthening financial and healthcare protection for workers in India’s gig economy.
Accident and health benefits
The insurance programme covers all active delivery partners against accidents, including fixed payouts in cases of accidental death or disability. It also provides child education support in the event of accidental death or permanent total disability.
Health benefits include cashless and reimbursement facilities for hospitalisation, day care procedures, maternity care and outpatient treatment. Coverage for pre-existing diseases begins from Day 1, without a waiting period.
Maternity benefits are available to women delivery partners and the spouses of male delivery partners wherever family coverage applies. During the previous policy period, spouses of delivery partners accounted for 75% of maternity claims, while women delivery partners accounted for the remaining 25%.
Swiggy Food Marketplace Chief Operating Officer Saurav Goyal said the renewal would continue to provide delivery partners with access to financial and healthcare protection, while strengthening support for their families.
Wider healthcare support
The policy includes emergency road ambulance services of up to ₹10,000 and outpatient treatment coverage of up to ₹10,000, without sub-limits. It also covers pre- and post-hospitalisation expenses, along with additional benefits such as loss-of-pay support and mobile cover.
Delivery partners and their families will have round-the-clock access to free teleconsultations with general physicians and super-specialists. Other wellness benefits include preferential rates on medicines and diagnostic tests, wellness sessions and AI-driven wellness management solutions.
Partners can access and claim insurance benefits through the Swiggy Delivery Partner App.
Focus on preventive healthcare
Beyond insurance, Swiggy organised health check-up camps for delivery partners across multiple cities during FY26. The company plans to expand these health and wellness interventions to more cities in the current financial year.
The initiatives reflect the growing importance of healthcare access and financial protection in India’s gig economy, where delivery workers often depend on their ability to work to maintain their earnings.
By combining insurance coverage with teleconsultations, preventive healthcare and wellness services, Swiggy is seeking to extend its support beyond accident protection to the wider health and financial security needs of delivery partners and their families.
