LEAP India Okays Acquisition Of Two Packaging Companies For ₹142 Cr

CW Bureau ·

LEAP India Ltd, a provider of returnable packaging and supply chain solutions, has approved the acquisition of Vimprotech and Total International Packaging Solutions for a combined cash consideration of ₹142 crore, strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and expanding its pooling business.

The acquisitions will be undertaken through the company’s wholly owned subsidiaries, Vimprotech Pvt Ltd and Total Integrated Packaging Solutions Pvt Ltd respectively. The transactions are expected to be completed by the third quarter of FY27.

Vimprotech acquisition strengthens manufacturing

LEAP India will acquire Vimprotech for ₹102 crore from its sole proprietor, B. Sumitha, through a slump sale.

The acquisition will establish a dedicated design, mould-making and manufacturing arm for advanced plastic packaging. Vimprotech’s capabilities in vacuum forming, thermoforming and injection moulding will help LEAP expand its product portfolio to include custom crates, trays and separator sheets.

The integration is expected to strengthen in-house design and manufacturing capabilities, improve operational efficiency and reduce dependence on third-party suppliers.

TIPS acquisition expands pooling business

LEAP India will acquire Total International Packaging Solutions (TIPS) for ₹40 crore from its partners, B. Sumitha, R.B. Arvind and R.B. Gautham, through a slump sale.

The acquisition is aimed at expanding LEAP’s returnable packaging pooling business across India, with a particular focus on the automotive sector and South India’s automotive corridors.

The company expects the transaction to broaden its product offerings and strengthen its presence in automotive supply chains.

Focus on integration and margins

The combined acquisitions are intended to improve supply chain control, optimise production costs and support long-term margin expansion through captive manufacturing.

“By securing backward integration into custom plastics manufacturing, we enhance our supply chain control, optimise our crate and container asset pool, and expand our network by over 200 valued customers,” LEAP India Ltd, Chairman, Managing Director and CEO, Sunu Mathew, said.

“Beyond product expansion, this move accelerates our long-term margin profile and delivers immediate cross-selling opportunities across our nationwide footprint,” he said.

The acquisitions are expected to create opportunities to integrate manufacturing with LEAP’s existing pooling operations while supporting customer expansion and operational scale.
