Italian luxury motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has launched two new off-road motorcycles in India, the Desmo450 MX Factory and Desmo450 EDX, marking its entry into a new segment of the country’s growing off-road motorcycling market.
The Desmo450 MX Factory, designed for competitive motocross racing, is priced at ₹21.26 lakh (ex-showroom India), while the Desmo450 EDX, developed for enduro and cross-country riding, is priced at ₹18.55 lakh.
Bookings for both motorcycles have opened across Ducati dealerships in India.
Developed using the company’s experience in MotoGP and Superbike racing, the two motorcycles bring Ducati’s Desmodromic engine technology to its off-road portfolio.
Desmodromic engine delivers 63.5 hp
Both motorcycles are powered by a 449.6 cc, single-cylinder engine featuring Desmodromic valve timing, a technology used in Ducati’s racing motorcycles, including its MotoGP machines.
The engine produces 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm and peak torque of 53.5 Nm at 7,500 rpm. Around 70% of maximum torque is available from 4,200 rpm, while the rev limiter is set at 11,900 rpm.
The engine configuration is designed to deliver linear power delivery and strong acceleration, particularly when exiting corners and navigating demanding off-road conditions.
MX Factory gets race-spec components
The Desmo450 MX Factory is designed for competitive motocross riders and weighs 104 kg without fuel. It uses a lightweight aluminium perimeter frame and comes equipped with high-performance racing components.
The motorcycle features a complete Akrapovič titanium exhaust system with dedicated engine mapping, aimed at reducing weight and improving power delivery.
Its suspension package includes Showa components with Dark Kashima-coated fork legs and TiO superfinishing. Other racing equipment includes billet Factory triple clamps, a standard holeshot device for improved race starts and Ducati Corse 2025 livery.
EDX developed for enduro and cross-country riding
The Desmo450 EDX shares its basic engineering platform with the MX but has been adapted for longer-distance enduro and cross-country applications.
It features an 8.5-litre fuel tank, a dedicated seat and redesigned shrouds. The motorcycle gets an 18-inch rear wheel fitted with Pirelli Scorpion XC Mid-Soft tyres and specially tuned closed-cartridge Showa suspension to handle uneven and unpredictable terrain.
Handguards, a skid plate and a side stand are included as standard equipment, making it suitable for demanding trail conditions.
Advanced electronics improve off-road control
Both motorcycles feature Ducati’s electronic rider-assistance package, including a closed-loop Ducati Traction Control (DTC) system that adjusts power delivery based on actual rear-wheel slip.
The system can automatically detect jumps and temporarily disengage traction control. Riders can also bypass the system temporarily through a slight pull of the clutch lever.
Other electronic features include Launch Control, Engine Brake Control (EBC), Ducati Quickshifter (DQS), and dedicated Power and Riding Modes to suit different riding conditions.
Ducati targets India’s growing off-road community
Ducati India Managing Director Bipul Chandra said the two motorcycles bring the company’s racing technology and Desmodromic engineering to the off-road segment in India for the first time.
He said the dual launch reflected Ducati’s commitment to the country’s growing off-road motorcycling community, offering specialised machines for both motocross competition and enduro trail riding.
With prices starting at ₹18.55 lakh, the new motorcycles expand Ducati’s premium portfolio beyond its established road and performance motorcycle segments, targeting enthusiasts seeking specialised off-road machines with racing-derived technology.
