Hindustan Zinc Signs 11 MoUs For Its New Rajasthan Zinc Industrial Park

CW Bureau ·

Hindustan Zinc Ltd has signed 11 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with industry partners for its proposed Zinc Industrial Park at Khankhala in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district, taking forward its plan to develop a dedicated downstream zinc manufacturing ecosystem.

The agreements were signed at ZnAL Confluence 2026 in Jaipur and cover potential manufacturing, engineering and service operations linked to zinc-based and allied value chains.

The partnerships are expected to help translate the proposed industrial park into potential investments, downstream manufacturing capacity and a wider industrial ecosystem, strengthening domestic value addition in zinc.

The MoUs were signed with Gainwell Commosales, Epiroc Mining India, Sai Deepa Rock Drills, Shree Nakoda Infrasteel, Suryakiran Earthmovers, J.G. Chemicals, EPCM Service & Supply, Jasta Alloys, Jammu Pigments and Ampex Energies.

Under the proposed arrangements, the companies have expressed their intent to establish operations within the park. Hindustan Zinc will extend ecosystem support to the proposed units.

Earlier agreements expand investor interestThe latest agreements build on earlier MoUs signed with Tripura Group, CMR Green Technologies, Group Nirmal and Sulfozyme Agro India.

The growing list of partners represents interest from a diverse range of manufacturers, technology-led enterprises and service providers, indicating the potential for an integrated downstream zinc industry cluster.

Hindustan Zinc CEO and Whole-time Director Amarendu Prakashsaid the Zinc Park was a strategic initiative reflecting the company’s long-term vision of building a globally competitive downstream ecosystem for zinc-based industries in India.

The growing confidence of industry partners across manufacturing, engineering and services demonstrated the strength of the proposition, he said.

Through ecosystem support, renewable energy integration and industry collaborations, the company aims to encourage MSME growth, generate local employment and strengthen domestic manufacturing.

₹5 crore entry investment for entrepreneurs
The Zinc Industrial Park was first announced by Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal at the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit in December 2024.

Developed in collaboration with the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO), the proposed park is designed as a downstream manufacturing hub integrating raw material availability with value-added zinc production.

The project envisages developed industrial land supported by RIICO, access to an earmarked share of Hindustan Zinc’s metal output and access to the company’s Centre of Excellence and research and development capabilities for product development and alloy innovation.

An important feature of the proposal is its focus on MSMEs and entrepreneurs, with businesses able to participate through initial investments starting at ₹5 crore.

Focus on zinc-based manufacturing segments
The park is expected to attract investments across galvanising, die-casting, zinc alloys, zinc oxide, wire and advanced zinc applications.

Its location near Hindustan Zinc’s existing operations at Chanderiya, Dariba and Debari is expected to provide downstream manufacturers with access to the company’s production ecosystem and technical capabilities.

The proposed cluster could help expand domestic manufacturing capacity in zinc-based products while creating opportunities for ancillary industries, employment and regional economic development.

Hindustan Zinc is continuing consultations with prospective investors and other stakeholders to develop the industrial park in phases.

The initiative also offers Rajasthan an opportunity to move beyond its position as a major mineral-producing state towards greater value addition through downstream manufacturing. However, the actual scale of investment and employment generation will depend on the conversion of the MoUs into operational projects.
