BMW Group India has launched the MINI Convertible Stardust Edition in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹62.90 lakh, expanding its portfolio of premium lifestyle vehicles in the country.
The limited-edition model will be imported as a completely built-up unit (CBU), with bookings open exclusively through the MINI India website. Deliveries will begin immediately.
The launch reflects MINI’s strategy of focusing on exclusivity rather than volumes in India’s luxury car market, where niche products are increasingly finding buyers seeking distinctive design and personalised ownership experiences.
“The new MINI Convertible is the perfect car for those who are open to fun and also enjoy making a distinct lifestyle statement,” said BMW Group India President and CEO Hardeep Singh Brar. He said the Stardust Edition was inspired by the changing colours of the twilight sky, combining a deep dusk-grey finish with champagne accents to create a highly exclusive offering.
Designed for exclusivity
The Stardust Edition comes exclusively in Sparkling Copper Grey metallic with Vibrant Silver mirror caps and 18-inch JCW Rallye Spoke alloy wheels. It features MINI’s signature round LED headlamps, redesigned grille and vertically aligned LED tail lamps.
A standout feature remains the electrically operated Union Jack soft-top roof, which opens fully in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 30 kmph and can also function as a sunroof. The luggage capacity stands at 160 litres with the roof open and 215 litres when closed.
Premium technology
Inside, the convertible features a minimalist cabin centred around MINI’s circular OLED touchscreen running the latest MINI Operating System 9. The system supports voice commands through the “Hey MINI” Intelligent Personal Assistant, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Head-Up Display, Harman Kardon surround sound system, Digital Key Plus and multiple connected-car features.
The car also offers MINI Experience Modes, including Go-Kart, Green and Vivid, allowing drivers to customise driving dynamics, ambient lighting and graphics.
Performance focus
Powering the Stardust Edition is a 2.0-litre MINI TwinPower Turbo petrol engine producing 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch Steptronic Sport transmission.
The convertible accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 6.9 seconds and has a top speed of 240 kmph.
Driver assistance features include Cruise Control, Parking Assistant, Comfort Access, Rear View Camera and Dynamic Stability Control, while safety equipment includes multiple airbags, ABS, Brake Assist and tyre pressure monitoring.
A niche luxury proposition
The launch underlines BMW Group India’s confidence in India’s growing appetite for lifestyle-oriented luxury vehicles. While convertibles remain a small segment due to climatic and practical considerations, limited editions such as the Stardust aim to attract collectors and buyers looking for rarity, distinctive styling and open-top driving experiences.
