The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has elected Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director & CEO, Ashok Leyland Ltd, as its President for 2026-27.
Agarwal, who previously served as Vice President of SIAM, succeeds Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director & CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd, who was the immediate past President of the industry body.
The new office bearers were elected at the SIAM Executive Committee Meeting held on Thursday, September 3.
The members also elected K N Radhakrishnan, Director & CEO, TVS Motor Company, as Vice President of SIAM for 2026-27.
Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India Pvt Ltd, has been elected Treasurer for the new term.
The leadership changes come at a significant time for India’s automobile industry, which is navigating a rapid transformation driven by electrification, new mobility technologies, evolving emission and safety regulations, and changing consumer preferences.
New SIAM leadership
With Agarwal taking over as President, SIAM’s new leadership team brings together senior executives from major automobile manufacturers across commercial vehicles, two-wheelers and passenger vehicles.
SIAM is the apex national body representing India’s leading vehicle and vehicular engine manufacturers. It is a society with charitable objectives registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
The organisation works towards enhancing the contribution of the automobile industry to the growth and development of the Indian economy. Its objectives also include helping the industry meet its social obligations and promoting efficiency across the automobile sector.
SIAM also focuses on issues relating to environmental improvement, vehicle safety and the protection of vehicle users and the public at large.
The association works closely with government and other stakeholders on policy, regulations, technology, safety, sustainability and other issues affecting India’s automotive ecosystem.
