JSW Energy Ltd has crossed the 15 GW installed capacity milestone after commissioning 1,572 MW of generation capacity since April 2026, taking its total operational capacity to 15,025 MW.
The company crossed the 10 GW milestone in March 2025. It has since expanded capacity at a compound annual growth rate of 26%, reaching 15 GW in less than six quarters.
Renewables account for over 60% of portfolio
The capacity added in FY27 so far includes 1,272 MW of renewable energy capacity, comprising 593 MW of solar, 108 MW of wind, 420 MW of hybrid and 150 MW of hydro projects.
The company has also added 300 MW of inorganic thermal capacity. Renewables now account for 9,067 MW, or more than 60% of its operational portfolio.
Company targets 3 GW addition in FY27
JSW Energy has 3,125 MW of operational wind capacity, 2,426 MW of solar, 1,735 MW of hybrid and 1,781 MW of hydro capacity. Its thermal portfolio stands at 5,958 MW.
The company remains on track to add 3 GW of greenfield generation capacity in FY27 and has achieved around 42% of this target so far.
Locked-in capacity reaches 32.4 GW
JSW Energy’s total locked-in generation capacity stands at 32.4 GW, comprising 15 GW of operational capacity and 13.4 GW under construction across thermal, hydro and renewable projects.
The company has an additional 4 GW pipeline, providing further visibility for capacity expansion.
Energy storage capacity at 29.6 GWh
The company has also secured 29.6 GWh of energy storage capacity, comprising 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage and 3.2 GWh of battery energy storage.
JSW Energy said the storage portfolio will support its ability to supply firm, round-the-clock power as the power sector increasingly shifts its focus from energy generation to dispatchability.
Company targets 30 GW by 2030
JSW Energy is targeting 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage by 2030.
The company has also set a target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, with renewable generation and energy storage forming key components of its long-term growth strategy.
