The Malaysia-headquartered industrial inspection X-ray machine maker Ray Tech Group, part of the Unicomp Group, is looking to have a firm foothold in the growing Indian market with plans for a production facility, greenfield or brownfield, said a top official.
He also said the Ray Tech Group is looking at acquisitions in the UK and Malaysia.
Production facility
Speaking to select media in Chennai, where Ray Tech has opened its first showroom in India, Ray Tech Group Managing Director, Sean Lyu said Ray Tech will set up a production facility in the country once the number of units imported and sold crosses 200.
He also said the group will be interested in acquisitions and joint ventures in India if they add value.
Industrial inspection X-ray
Industrial inspection X-ray machines are used to look inside a product without opening, damaging or destroying it.
Simply put, like X-ray machines used to look inside the human body, industrial X-ray machines are used in industries, both inline and offline, to check products.
Global sales
According to him, Ray Tech sells about 500 units per annum across the world, while the Unicomp Group’s yearly sales are about 4,000 units, making it the largest player in the world.
Key growth sectors
Lyu said the major user industries, semiconductors, electronics, automobiles, lithium-ion batteries, food and beverages, are logging growth in India.
Further, urbanisation in the country is happening, and it is an apt time for Ray Tech to have its presence.
Showroom expansion
Lyu said Ray Tech will open showrooms in major Indian cities and also expand its after-sales service network.
He said Ray Tech hopes to set up its Indian production plant within a two-to-three-year timeframe.
