The Mahindra Group has appointed Shveta Arya as its Group Chief Strategy Officer, effective September 15, 2026, as the conglomerate strengthens its focus on growth opportunities, value creation and long-term strategic advantage across its diverse portfolio.
Arya will also become part of the senior management of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. In her new role, she will lead the Group Strategy Office and work across Mahindra Group’s businesses to identify new growth opportunities, unlock value and drive strategic initiatives.
She will be a member of the Group Executive Board and will report to Mahindra Group’s Group CEO and Managing Director Anish Shah.
Two decades of leadership experience
Welcoming Arya to the group, Shah said her more than two decades of experience spanning business leadership, strategy and management consulting across multiple sectors would add significant value to Mahindra’s portfolio of businesses.
“We are pleased to welcome Shveta Arya as Group Chief Strategy Officer. Shveta brings over two decades of leadership experience across business and strategy, as well as management consulting across diverse sectors,” Shah said.
He added that her experience in driving growth, shaping strategy and leading organisations through periods of change would be valuable as Mahindra works with its portfolio companies to accelerate growth and create long-term value.
“Her passion for constructive change and holistic progress also resonates strongly with Mahindra’s purpose. I wish her the very best in this key leadership role,” Shah said.
From Cummins to Mahindra
Arya joins Mahindra Group after a career spanning more than 23 years across publicly listed multinational companies and management consulting, with experience across the automotive, travel, financial services and telecommunications sectors.
In her most recent role as Managing Director of Cummins India Ltd, Arya was responsible for driving business growth, customer success, talent development and a positive, inclusive and ethical workplace culture.
Before joining Cummins, she headed Strategy and M&A at Thomas Cook India. Earlier in her career, she held various roles at management consulting firm Kearney and Infosys.
Her cross-sector experience is expected to support Mahindra’s efforts to identify synergies and growth opportunities across its businesses while strengthening strategic execution at the group level.
Focus on constructive change
Arya holds a Master of Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Information Technology from Delhi University.
She has been an advocate of constructive change and holistic progress, with a focus on creating positive outcomes for customers, employees and communities.
Arya is also a strong proponent of diversity, inclusion and women’s empowerment. At Cummins, she served as the programme sponsor for the company’s flagship initiative focused on creating large-scale impact in the lives of girls and women in India.
Her appointment comes as Mahindra Group continues to build a diversified portfolio spanning automotive, technology, financial services, hospitality and other businesses, with group-level strategy playing an increasingly important role in driving capital allocation, growth and long-term value creation.
