Air India and Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL), India’s largest private airport operator, have launched an integrated online duty-free shopping platform for international travellers, allowing passengers to browse, pre-order and pay for duty-free products before their journey.
The digital storefront has been integrated into Air India’s official website and mobile application. Passengers travelling from or arriving at select Indian airports can shop online and collect their packaged purchases at designated duty-free counters at the airport.
Up to 25% introductory savings
The platform offers introductory discounts of up to 25% on standard retail shelf prices, with customers also able to use eligible bank offers and seasonal privileges.
The digital catalogue includes premium cosmetics and fragrances, luxury chocolates and confectionery, consumer electronics and spirits.
The online model allows travellers to complete their purchases before reaching the airport, potentially reducing the time spent at duty-free counters while giving them access to a wider range of products.
Maharaja Club members earn loyalty points
The partnership also integrates Air India’s loyalty programme into duty-free purchases.
Members of the Maharaja Club will automatically earn 3 Maharaja Points for every ₹100 spent on eligible duty-free transactions.
The loyalty benefit adds a travel rewards component to airport retail purchases, linking Air India’s digital customer ecosystem with Adani Airports’ duty-free retail operations.
Service available at seven airports
The online duty-free service is currently available to passengers travelling to and from airports at Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram.
Eligibility also extends to customers travelling on codeshare itineraries, including flights operated by Air India Express.
The companies said the service will be expanded to additional domestic and international gateways in subsequent phases.
Airport retail moves online
The partnership combines Air India’s digital customer platform with Adani Airports’ airport retail operations, bringing duty-free shopping into the travel-planning process.
Passengers can browse products and pre-order them before travelling, complete payment digitally and collect their purchases at designated airport counters. The companies said the initiative is designed to make duty-free shopping more integrated with the overall passenger journey.
