TVS Motor Company, part of TVS Venu, has introduced traction control and emergency brake warning systems on the TVS Raider TFT DD and Raider SXC DD variants, bringing advanced active safety features to the 125cc motorcycle segment.
The new TVS Raider TFT DD is priced at ₹1,03,170, while the Raider SXC DD costs ₹1,00,330 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Both variants will be available through authorised TVS Motor dealerships.
The introduction of traction control, which the company describes as a first in the 125cc motorcycle segment, marks an expansion of safety technology in a category where affordability, performance and fuel efficiency remain key purchase considerations.
Safety takes centre stage
The traction control system is designed to help riders maintain control when the rear wheel loses grip on slippery or uneven surfaces, including wet roads, loose gravel and pothole-ridden stretches.
Emergency Brake Warning complements the system by alerting following motorists when the rider brakes suddenly, potentially giving them additional time to react and reducing the risk of rear-end collisions.
Together, the two features extend the Raider’s safety offering beyond conventional braking and handling equipment. Their practical value will depend on road conditions, rider behaviour and the effectiveness of the systems in real-world situations.
The move also reflects a broader shift in the two-wheeler industry, where manufacturers are increasingly introducing technology previously associated with higher-priced motorcycles into mass-market segments.
Wider tyre and faster charging
The updated Raider variants also feature a wider rear tyre intended to improve grip and stability. A 27W USB Type-C fast charger adds convenience for riders who rely on their smartphones for navigation and everyday communication.
These additions complement the motorcycle’s existing features, including a three-valve engine, iGO Assist with Boost Mode for stronger acceleration, and Glide Through Technology for smoother low-speed manoeuvring.
The TFT-equipped variant also offers connectivity features, with the company highlighting 99 smart functions designed to keep riders connected and informed.
Technology as a competitive differentiator
The 125cc motorcycle segment serves a large base of daily commuters as well as younger buyers seeking a combination of performance, styling and technology. The addition of active safety features could help TVS Motor differentiate the Raider in a competitive market.
For manufacturers, the challenge is to introduce meaningful technological upgrades without pushing products beyond the budgets of their target customers. By offering traction control and emergency brake warning on selected Raider variants, TVS Motor is seeking to make advanced safety technology more accessible to everyday riders.
The pricing of the new variants places them at the ₹1 lakh mark, making the value proposition important for prospective buyers weighing additional safety and connectivity features against purchase cost.
The latest update builds on TVS Motor’s strategy of positioning the Raider as a technology-led offering in the 125cc category, with safety, convenience and connectivity forming the core of its latest upgrade.
