Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) reported a strong performance in July 2026, with domestic sales rising more than 48% year-on-year to 6,014 units, aided by healthy demand across its sedan and SUV portfolio.
The company recorded total sales of 8,284 units during the month, comprising 6,014 units in the domestic market and 2,270 units in exports.
In the corresponding month last year, Honda Cars India had sold 4,050 units in the domestic market and exported 3,474 units.
New launches boost demand
Honda attributed the strong domestic performance to the positive market response to the recently introduced New City and the launch of the Honda ZR-V, while established models such as the Honda Elevate and Honda Amaze continued to witness healthy demand.
Honda Cars India Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Kunal Behl said the company had built strong momentum across its portfolio.
“Our sales performance with over 48% growth in domestic sales in July reflects the positive momentum we are building across our portfolio. The encouraging response to the recently introduced New City and the launch of the Honda ZR-V has further strengthened customer interest in the brand, while Honda Elevate and Honda Amaze continue to deliver robust sales backed by their strong value proposition and customer trust.”
He added that the company expects demand to remain healthy as the festive season gathers pace, supported by its expanded product portfolio and customer-centric initiatives.
Festive season outlook
Honda said it remains optimistic about sustaining the growth momentum in the coming months, with the festive buying season expected to support demand for passenger vehicles.
The automaker currently manufactures the Honda Amaze, Honda City, and Honda Elevate in India at its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, while the recently launched Honda ZR-V is sold as a completely built unit (CBU) imported from Japan.
The company continues to strengthen its presence in the premium passenger vehicle segment through a combination of locally manufactured models and globally sourced products.
