BMW India has launched the new BMW 7 Series range in India, expanding its flagship sedan portfolio with petrol and all-electric powertrains, including the BMW i7 M70 xDrive, described by the company as the most powerful 7 Series ever created.

The new 7 Series was unveiled by actor Ranveer Singh, who has also been introduced as the Brand Voice for BMW India. The collaboration positions Singh alongside the German luxury carmaker’s flagship sedan as part of a launch centred on modern luxury and performance.

Three variants priced from ₹1.95 crore
The new BMW 740 M Sport and BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport are priced at ₹1.95 crore each, ex-showroom, while the BMW i7 M70 xDrive is priced at ₹2.65 crore.

The range comprises:

  • BMW 740 M Sport: ₹1.95 crore
  • BMW i7 eDrive50 xDrive M Sport: ₹1.95 crore
  • BMW i7 M70 xDrive: ₹2.65 crore

Bookings are now open through BMW India dealerships, with deliveries scheduled to commence from October 2026.

i7 enters local production
BMW is also expanding its local manufacturing footprint for electric luxury vehicles. The new BMW i7 will now be locally produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai, making India only the second country after Germany where the i7 is manufactured locally.

The performance-oriented BMW i7 M70 xDrive, however, will be offered as a completely built-up unit (CBU).

BMW said the move strengthens its Power of Choice strategy by offering customers a choice between combustion-engine and electric powertrains in the flagship luxury segment.

M performance meets electric luxury
The BMW i7 M70 xDrive sits at the top of the new range, combining BMW M performance with the luxury and comfort associated with the 7 Series.

“The new BMW 7 Series is more than our flagship sedan – it is our ultimate statement of modern luxury. It moves the leaders, changemakers and visionaries who are shaping tomorrow,” Mr. Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said.

He added that the new 7 Series represents the BMW Luxury Class while providing a preview of technologies expected to shape the company’s Neue Klasse era.

On the i7 M70 xDrive, Brar said the model brings together electric performance and first-class luxury, reflecting BMW’s view that sustainability and performance need not be competing choices.

7 Series enters a new era
The BMW 7 Series has been part of BMW’s flagship portfolio since 1977, with successive generations introducing new safety technologies, operating concepts and digital features.

With the latest generation, BMW is positioning the 7 Series as a technology and luxury flagship while broadening its powertrain choices in India.

The local production of the i7 also marks a significant step in BMW India’s electric vehicle strategy, as the company seeks to combine premium EV demand with increasing localisation of its electric portfolio.
