FlixBus India, the India arm of global travel-tech company FlixBus, is marking two years of operations in South India with more than half of its India network now spread across the region.
The company is witnessing strong growth in key southern markets. In September 2026, its network from Hyderabad grew 159% year-on-year, while Bengaluru and Chennai recorded growth of 260% and 100%, respectively, compared with September 2025.
120 buses to be added
As it enters its third year in South India, FlixBus plans to add 120 buses across its southern network during the third and fourth quarters of 2026.
The expansion will extend connectivity to destinations including Guntur, Coonoor and Ooty, strengthening links across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
The company has also launched a new Hyderabad-Pondicherry connection using a Volvo Sleeper service. The route is aimed at strengthening inter-state connectivity between Telangana and Tamil Nadu while adding another leisure destination to FlixBus’ Hyderabad network.
Network expands beyond major cities
FlixBus entered South India in September 2024 and has since expanded its network to connect major urban centres with regional, spiritual and leisure destinations.
The addition of Guntur will strengthen the company’s regional network in Andhra Pradesh, while Coonoor and Ooty will expand its presence in established hill and leisure destinations.
“South India has become a significant part of FlixBus India’s journey, and the fact that more than half of our network is now in the region is a reflection of the depth of the opportunity we see here. The next phase is about building density: connecting more cities, increasing capacity and making intercity travel a more accessible and dependable choice for passengers,” said FlixBus India, Managing Director, Surya Khurana.
The company said its asset-light model, local operating partnerships and technology and network capabilities will support further expansion across Indian markets.
Focus on technology and partnerships
The South India expansion is part of FlixBus India’s broader strategy to build a connected intercity mobility network through technology and partnerships with regional bus operators.
As it enters its third year in the region, the company plans to expand its network while focusing on safety, service consistency and passenger experience.
