Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) reported total sales of 65,796 units in August 2026, including domestic sales and exports, registering an 8.8% year-on-year growth.

Domestic sales rose sharply by 23.6% YoY to 54,396 units, marking Hyundai’s highest-ever domestic sales for the month of August. Exports stood at 11,400 units during the month.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd MD & CEO Tarun Garg said the company continues to sustain strong growth momentum in FY2027, with domestic sales growing 12.6% YoY during April-August.

“Our August domestic sales of 54,396 units (+23.6% YoY), the highest-ever figure for any August month, reflect the popularity of Hyundai’s versatile product portfolio,” Garg said.

However, exports in August were impacted by logistical constraints arising from the ongoing conflict in West Asia and the broader geopolitical environment. The company said it remains optimistic that export demand will remain strong as the geopolitical situation improves.

Hyundai lines up new electric SUV
Hyundai is preparing to expand its SUV portfolio in India, with an all-new electric SUV scheduled for launch in the fourth quarter.

The new electric SUV has been localized and designed for the Indian market and will feature a next-generation infotainment system and Level 2 assisted driving technology.

The company is also set to introduce a new ICE-powered mid-size SUV, further strengthening its presence in the rapidly expanding SUV market.

India emerges as key manufacturing and export hub
Hyundai Motor continues to deepen its localisation strategy in India, targeting 90% local sourcing of vehicle content by 2030.

The company’s Indian supply chain includes more than 1,400 local suppliers, supported by a network of over 900 local engineers.

With manufacturing facilities in India having an annual production capacity of 1.1 million vehicles, the country is expected to remain a key export hub for Hyundai Motor.

Hyundai aims to export around 30% of its India production volume by 2030, with vehicles from its Indian operations serving markets across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and South America.

The strong August domestic performance, coupled with an expanding SUV and EV portfolio, positions Hyundai for continued growth in India as it heads into the crucial festive-season demand period.
