Ola Electric has unveiled an expanded Ola Shakti energy storage portfolio, marking a push beyond electric mobility into residential, commercial, industrial and utility-scale energy storage.
Built around indigenous LFP battery technology and Ola Electric’s vertically integrated cell-to-system capabilities, the Shakti portfolio spans three segments, Shakti Gen2 for homes, Shakti Rack for commercial and infrastructure applications, and Mahashakti for industrial and grid-scale energy storage.
Ola Electric Chairman and Managing Director Bhavish Aggarwal said : “The use cases of our world-class battery and cell technology will manifest beyond electric mobility. Ola Shakti extends that innovation across every scale, from the home to the grid, helping India store and use clean energy intelligently.”
Shakti Gen2 targets homes
The residential Shakti Gen2 combines battery backup, intelligent energy management and solar storage in a single system.
The 4.6 kWh model is priced at an introductory ₹99,999, while the 9.2 kWh version is priced at ₹1,74,999. Both can be reserved for ₹999, with deliveries scheduled to begin in November 2026.
For businesses, Shakti AC Rack and Shakti DC Rack extend the architecture to commercial applications. The AC Rack integrates the battery and inverter, while the DC Rack interfaces directly with compatible DC infrastructure. Both are modular and are scheduled to be available from March 2027.
Mahashakti takes Ola into grid storage
At the top end, Mahashakti is aimed at industrial and utility-scale applications.
The Mahashakti Rack is designed for large commercial and industrial loads, while the 6.26 MWh Mahashakti container targets utility-scale projects. The architecture is designed to scale from a single container to GWh-scale energy storage plants.
Ola Electric has already signed an MoU with Axis Energy for the potential deployment of up to 20 GWh of battery energy storage systems by 2032 under the Mahashakti platform.
Leveraging Gigafactory and LFP technology
Ola Shakti products will use LFP cells, with the company leveraging its Krishnagiri Gigafactory and existing distribution network.
Ola Electric is positioning the portfolio as a vertically integrated cell-to-pack offering, with the objective of improving safety, supply-chain security and total cost of ownership.
The company said the expansion comes as India’s energy storage requirements are expected to rise alongside renewable energy deployment and the need for greater grid reliability.
Rollout begins with home storage
Reservations for Shakti Gen2 are open immediately at ₹999 through Ola Electric’s website and retail network, with deliveries targeted for November 2026.
The Shakti AC and DC Racks are scheduled for March 2027, while Mahashakti Rack and Mahashakti are also expected to become available from March 2027, with reservations open.
Ola Electric said further technical specifications, commercial and utility product pricing, detailed performance data, warranty terms and partnership updates will be announced in due course.
