Eicher Trucks and Buses, a business unit of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) – a joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, has strengthened its partnership with Cityflo to scale premium intra-city mobility solutions across India, with plans to deploy 2,000 buses over the next three years.
The collaboration marks a major expansion of the companies’ existing engagement and is aimed at improving urban commuting through reliable, comfortable and sustainable mobility solutions. Cityflo currently operates nearly 2,000 buses across multiple cities.
Fleet deployment plans
As part of the agreement, Cityflo plans to induct around 500 Eicher buses during FY27. The partnership will include deployment of a multi-fuel portfolio comprising premium AC pushback buses, CNG-powered vehicles and electric buses tailored for urban mobility requirements.
The agreement includes procurement of models such as the Eicher Skyline Pro 3011 AC Pushback equipped with rear air suspension in both diesel and CNG variants.
Focus on commuter comfort
VECV Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer B Srinivas said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to transforming daily urban commuting through reliable and efficient mobility solutions.
“By combining Eicher’s advanced buses and service ecosystem with Cityflo’s commuter-first approach, we will deliver a dependable and premium travel experience that makes everyday journeys more predictable, convenient and sustainable for passengers,” he said.
He added that the partnership aligns with the government’s vision of reducing congestion in cities and lowering fuel imports by promoting attractive public transport alternatives.
Co-developed bus solutions
Cityflo Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer Rishabh Shah said the collaboration began in 2024 with a focus on developing the right bus configuration for city commutes.
“The result was a brand-new 27-seater vehicle, built specifically for city roads and refined to meet Cityflo’s service standards. We’re excited to continue building on that same spirit of collaboration as we scale,” he said.
The companies said a key differentiator of the partnership is the ability to co-develop bus configurations aligned with Cityflo’s operating requirements, including improved ride comfort, lower NVH levels, enhanced air-conditioning performance and optimized seating layouts.
Service integration and uptime
The collaboration will also focus on ensuring high uptime, operational reliability and lower total cost of ownership through a strong service and parts ecosystem.
The engagement includes on-site support and maintenance planning aligned with peak-hour operations to ensure uninterrupted commuter services.
According to the companies, the partnership is expected to strengthen operator confidence through improved asset reliability, robust OEM backing and enhanced lifecycle performance.
Push towards sustainable mobility
The alliance also supports the transition towards cleaner and scalable urban transport through wider adoption of CNG-powered buses and gradual expansion of electric mobility solutions as the ecosystem matures.
By offering dependable and comfortable alternatives to private vehicle usage and inconsistent public transport systems, the companies aim to make daily urban commuting more attractive for passengers.
