Morepen Laboratories is strengthening its position in the global Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) market while expanding into the Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation (CDMO) segment, according to Managing Director Sanjay Suri.
In his message to shareholders in the company’s Annual Report 2026, Suri said Morepen continues to focus on manufacturing high-quality APIs for diverse geographies and therapeutic segments, while building a pipeline of new and innovative products to support sustainable long-term growth.
The company’s adherence to regulatory standards set by globally recognised authorities, including the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA), European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM), Korea Drug Master File (KDMF) and Japan Drug Master File (JDMF), has helped it establish credibility as it enters the CDMO segment.
During the year, Morepen secured a long-term API supply contract with a global innovator, marking an important milestone in its growth strategy.
API business remains core growth engine
The API business continues to be Morepen Laboratories’ largest segment and the principal contributor to its export revenues, with exports accounting for nearly 70% of the API business.
Europe has emerged as an increasingly important market for the company. Its contribution to Morepen’s API exports rose sharply to 44.43% in FY2025-26, compared with 31.09% in the previous financial year.
The share of the US market declined to 17.65% from 21.78%, while the combined contribution of the Asia-Pacific (APAC), Latin America (LATAM) and Africa markets stood at 37.92%, compared with 47.13% a year earlier.
At the same time, the domestic market strengthened, with its share increasing to 29.26% from 27.86%.
New molecules drive triple-digit growth
Morepen’s focus on new molecules is beginning to translate into a significant increase in revenues.
Revenue from new molecules comprising Edoxaban, Linagliptin, Saxagliptin and Vonoprazan increased to ₹563.72 crore during the year from ₹255.48 crore in the previous financial year, registering a 121% growth.
The company also expanded its new product portfolio with the addition of Bempedoic Acid, a molecule used in the treatment of lifestyle-related diseases. The product generated revenue of ₹166.89 crore during the year.
The sharp increase in contribution from newer molecules underscores Morepen’s strategy of moving beyond established API products and developing a broader portfolio aimed at high-growth therapeutic categories.
CDMO emerges as strategic opportunity
Morepen’s entry into the CDMO segment represents another key element of its longer-term growth strategy.
The company believes its manufacturing capabilities, product quality and compliance with regulatory requirements across major international markets provide a foundation for serving global pharmaceutical innovators.
The long-term API supply agreement secured during the year provides an early validation of this strategy and could help Morepen deepen its engagement with global pharmaceutical companies.
With Europe gaining share in its export mix, domestic business strengthening and newer molecules generating rapidly growing revenues, Morepen Laboratories is seeking to build a more diversified API and CDMO platform for sustained growth.
