Himadri Speciality Chemical Ltd has commenced commercial operations of its expanded 70,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) speciality carbon black capacity at its Mahistikry plant in Hooghly, West Bengal.

Following the commissioning of the new line, the company’s total carbon black manufacturing capacity has risen to 2,50,000 TPA. Of this, speciality carbon black now accounts for 1,30,000 TPA, underscoring Himadri’s strategic pivot towards high-value, performance-driven products catering to advanced applications across polymers, inks, coatings, and specialty segments.

With the latest expansion, the Mahistikry facility has become the single largest speciality carbon black manufacturing site at one location globally, with a capacity of 1,30,000 TPA.

The scale-up is expected to enhance operating efficiencies, improve economies of scale, and strengthen the company’s positioning in both domestic and export markets.

The capacity addition aligns with Himadri’s broader growth strategy focused on expanding its speciality portfolio and deepening its presence in value-added segments.

Management indicated that the expanded facility would support higher production volumes and contribute meaningfully to revenue growth in the coming quarters.

“This milestone underscores our continued focus on high value-added solutions and marks the beginning of the next phase of growth in our speciality carbon black journey,” said Chairman and Managing Director & CEO Anurag Choudhary during an earnings call.
