Her journey, from a finance professional to the head of a major global engineering services operation in India, reflects the power of learning, agility and inclusive leadership.
Based in Chennai, Ramamoorthi’s academic grounding lies in commerce and finance. She earned a B.Com degree from Ethiraj College for Women and went on to qualify as both a Chartered Accountant and a Cost and Management Accountant.

A defining phase of her early career came at Ashok Leyland, where she spent more than a decade working across multiple functions.
Beginning in finance, she steadily moved into operational and transformation roles, gaining exposure to manufacturing, business strategy and digital initiatives.
This experience proved significant, equipping her with a cross-functional perspective that later became a hallmark of her leadership style.
Before joining KBR, Ramamoorthi held senior leadership positions at Atkins India, part of the global design and engineering consultancy WS Atkins.
As Vice President for Digital and later India Operations Director, she oversaw major engineering delivery centres and helped expand India’s role in supporting global infrastructure and engineering projects.
Her next major step came in 2022 when she was appointed Managing Director of KBR India, the local arm of the US-based engineering, technology and government services company. In this role, she leads operations across the company’s Indian centres, including Chennai, Pune and Gurugram.
Under her leadership, KBR India has strengthened its position as a global capability hub for engineering and technology services.
The company’s India teams contribute to projects spanning sectors such as energy, defence, infrastructure and space, highlighting the growing role of Indian talent in global engineering networks.
Ramamoorthi has also been a strong advocate of digital transformation within the engineering sector. She emphasises the integration of advanced technologies, such as digital engineering tools, data analytics and automation, to enhance project delivery, efficiency and innovation.
Equally central to her leadership philosophy is the promotion of diversity and inclusion. She has consistently highlighted the need for greater representation of women in engineering and technology roles, encouraging organisations to build workplaces where diverse talent can thrive.
Committed to continuous learning, Ramamoorthi has pursued executive education programmes in areas such as digital strategy and climate change from leading global institutions, reinforcing her belief that leadership must evolve alongside technological and economic change.
Beyond her corporate responsibilities, she is a regular speaker at major industry conferences, leadership forums and television talk shows, where she shares insights on digital transformation, sustainability and the growing importance of global capability centres in India.
