Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd, a leading healthcare provider, has launched a structured patient transfer initiative aimed at improving access to advanced critical care through coordinated air medical transportation across India and international regions.
The initiative is designed to streamline emergency patient transfers by integrating multiple air ambulance service providers under a unified response framework.
Partnerships to strengthen emergency response
Over the past few months, Apollo Hospitals has entered into memoranda of understandings with several national and international air ambulance operators to enhance the efficiency and reach of patient transfers.
The initiative is coordinated through Apollo’s 1066 Emergency Response Network, which brings together these service providers to enable faster and more organised medical evacuations.
Addressing gaps in medical transport
By formalising these partnerships, Apollo Hospitals aims to address longstanding gaps in emergency medical transport, particularly for patients in remote or underserved locations.
Traditionally, such transfers have been fragmented, expensive and dependent on informal intermediaries. The new framework seeks to make air ambulance services more accessible, transparent and coordinated for patients and their families.
Wide network of service providers
In the first phase, Apollo Hospitals has partnered with a range of domestic and international air ambulance operators, including Bluedot Charters and Air Ambulance Services, AeroMed International Rescue Services Pvt Ltd, Jhankar Aviation Pvt Ltd, iCATT Health Solutions Pvt Ltd, Air Rescuers World Wide Pvt Ltd, Vedant Air Rescue Pvt Ltd, AeroCare Air Ambulance Service, Ayusewa Air and Train Ambulance, Air Medical 24X7 Pvt Ltd and Flaps Aviation Private Ltd.
These partnerships are expected to expand access to time-sensitive, high-acuity patient transfers requiring rapid movement to tertiary and quaternary care centres.
Enhancing clinical coordination
Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Executive Vice Chairperson Preetha Reddy said: “In critical situations, the ability to reach the right hospital quickly can make a life-saving difference.”
She added that integrating air ambulance providers with the 1066 response network ensures better clinical coordination and hospital preparedness, creating a connected care pathway for patients.
The initiative marks a step towards building a more responsive and integrated emergency healthcare ecosystem, enabling faster access to specialised care across geographies.
