Green Push: JSW MG Motor India Posts 66% EV Sales Growth In FY26

CW Bureau ·

JSW MG Motor India has reported a robust 66% growth in its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio for FY26, underlining the accelerating adoption of clean mobility in the country.

The company sold 62,591 EVs in FY26, up from 37,730 units in FY25, reflecting strong consumer traction and expanding market presence.

March sales reflect sustained growth

In March alone, JSW MG Motor India recorded sales of 6,528 units, marking a 19% year-on-year growth. The steady performance highlights sustained demand momentum across its product portfolio.

MG Windsor leads the charge

Driving this growth was the MG Windsor, which posted a notable 20% year-on-year growth in March. The model continues to hold its position as India’s top-selling EV, demonstrating strong customer acceptance nationwide.

Interestingly, nearly 70% of Windsor sales originated from non-metro cities, signalling a significant shift in buying patterns. This trend reflects the growing appeal of EVs beyond urban centres and their increasing suitability for smaller cities.

Expansion plans: entry into PHEV segment

Looking ahead, the company plans to further strengthen its new energy vehicle (NEV) portfolio with the introduction of its first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in the coming months, marking its entry into a new segment.

Focus on sustainable mobility ecosystem

JSW MG Motor India, a joint venture between SAIC Motor and JSW Group, continues to focus on building a smart and sustainable automotive ecosystem.

The company is expanding its diverse vehicle portfolio by enhancing access to advanced automotive technologies and delivering futuristic products with strong value propositions.

Driving innovation and localisation

The automaker is also investing in world-class technology, strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem, and driving innovation across operations. Its focus on localisation is expected to generate significant employment opportunities while enhancing supply chain resilience.
