Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) said a fire at a key supplier’s manufacturing facility led to a production loss of 13,900 units in June. The company has restored normal production and expects to recover the shortfall in Q2 FY2026-27.
The company said it has restored normal production across its manufacturing facilities from June 22, 2026, after implementing contingency measures, including sourcing components from alternate locations.
Production restored after temporary disruption
HMIL said the fire at the supplier’s facility had temporarily affected production, but the company acted swiftly to minimise the impact by securing automotive parts from alternative sources.
The automaker expects to recover the lost production volume during the second quarter of FY2026-27.
June sales at 51,335 units
Despite the production setback, Hyundai Motor India reported total sales of 51,335 units in June 2026. Domestic sales stood at 39,635 units, while exports accounted for 11,700 units during the month.
Company expects full recovery in Q2
Hyundai Motor India Ltd Managing Director & CEO Tarun Garg said, “In June 2026, HMIL achieved total monthly sales of 51,335 units (Domestic: 39,635 units and Exports: 11,700 units) despite facing a production loss of 13,900 units owing to a fire incident at one of the supplier’s manufacturing facilities which led to a temporary disruption in production.”
He added that the company expects to recover the production shortfall during the second quarter of FY2026-27.
Fire at Mobis India facility disrupted supplies
The disruption followed a fire that broke out on May 31, 2026, at a manufacturing facility operated by Mobis India Ltd in Irrungattukottai, Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu.
The facility manufactures audio systems and other automotive components supplied to Hyundai Motor India, making it a critical part of the company’s supply chain.
Following the incident, Hyundai had informed stock exchanges that production activities would gradually return to normal by June 22, while stating that retail sales were expected to remain largely unaffected due to adequate inventory levels across its dealer network.
