Delhivery, India’s largest logistics service provider, and Bajaj Auto have partnered to deploy 200 Bajaj RIKI eCarts across Delhivery’s last-mile delivery network, extending fleet electrification into Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
The deployment marks the first phase of a broader partnership between the two companies. The second phase, planned for 2026-27, is expected to see the deployment of around 1,500 Bajaj electric three-wheelers across the network. The vehicles were officially flagged off at Bajaj Auto’s facility in Akurdi, Pune.
Expanding electric mobility in logistics
The collaboration combines Bajaj Auto’s expertise in electric mobility with Delhivery’s technology-led logistics operations. The companies said the initiative is aimed at modernising urban logistics while improving operational efficiency and sustainability.
Designed for last-mile cargo movement, the Bajaj RIKI eCart is engineered to deliver reliability, durability and high uptime for fleet operators.
Driving operational efficiency
Powered by an electric powertrain and equipped with a two-speed automatic transmission, the Bajaj RIKI C4005 (eCart) offers lower maintenance requirements and reduced operating costs per kilometre. The vehicle also provides enhanced load-carrying capacity, enabling delivery partners to transport larger volumes more efficiently.
Combined with Delhivery’s route optimisation technology, the deployment is expected to improve delivery productivity and support higher earning potential for delivery partners.
Focus on rider welfare and sustainability
Delhivery Chief Operating Officer, In-City Operations Prashant Gazipur said, “Our collaboration with Bajaj Auto addresses the economic well-being of our delivery partners while advancing both our environmental goals and those of our clients. By combining our intelligent routing systems with highly efficient cargo EVs, we are creating a more profitable model for our riders and offering our clients a cleaner, lower-carbon supply chain.”
He added that the deployment across metro cities as well as emerging Tier-2 and smaller markets would help create a last-mile network that is safer, more rewarding and aligned with shared ESG commitments.
Launching the Bajaj RIKI C4005
Bajaj Auto President, Intra-City Business Samardeep Subandh said, “This partnership with Delhivery has the potential of transforming last-mile cargo transport, with Delhivery’s scale and technology and Bajaj Auto’s expertise in three-wheeler electric mobility. With this partnership, we are launching the Bajaj RIKI C4005 (eCart).”
He added that the vehicle offers a driving range of over 100 km on a single charge, along with enhanced reliability, durability, comfort and ergonomics for drivers.
Supporting ESG goals
The transition from internal combustion engine vehicles to electric cargo vehicles is expected to reduce tailpipe emissions in densely populated urban areas while supporting Delhivery’s fleet electrification strategy.
The companies said the initiative will contribute to lowering Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions and advance Delhivery’s long-term environmental, social and governance (ESG) objectives.
Equipped with advanced battery management systems designed for extended urban operations, the vehicles are expected to support all-day delivery schedules while reinforcing the partners’ commitment to operational efficiency, driver welfare and sustainable logistics.
