Ford Motor Company has strengthened its long-term commitment to India by inaugurating a new Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Coimbatore under Ford Business Solutions (FBS) India, expanding its global business services network and reaffirming Tamil Nadu’s growing stature as a preferred destination for multinational capability centres.
The new facility, inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Minister for Industries S. Keerthana, is located at SVB Tech Park and can accommodate around 800 employees. It will support Ford’s worldwide operations through business services, technology, engineering and innovation-led functions.
The expansion comes at a time when Tamil Nadu is aggressively positioning itself as India’s leading destination for Global Capability Centres, leveraging its skilled workforce, robust infrastructure and industry-friendly policies to attract global investments.
Business continuity hub
Ford said the Coimbatore centre has been established as a dedicated business continuity hub to strengthen the resilience of its global operations.
The facility will house teams supporting critical finance and business functions, including accounting, credit, treasury and business operations across Ford’s international markets. By diversifying its operational footprint within India, the company aims to improve business continuity while tapping into Coimbatore’s growing pool of engineering and technology talent.
The new centre will complement Ford’s existing Global Technology and Business Center in Chennai and further enhance the company’s ability to deliver integrated business and technology services to its global operations.
Boost for Coimbatore
The investment is expected to further accelerate Coimbatore’s emergence as a major hub for knowledge-driven industries and global business services.
Over the past few years, Coimbatore has attracted increasing investments from multinational companies establishing Global Capability Centres and technology operations, supported by a strong engineering talent base, educational institutions and improving commercial infrastructure.
The Ford facility is expected to create high-value employment opportunities while contributing to the city’s growing reputation as an alternative technology destination outside Chennai.
The development also aligns with the Tamil Nadu government’s vision of promoting balanced regional growth by attracting investments into emerging cities across the State rather than concentrating economic activity only in the capital.
