Tesla is expanding its retail and after-sales footprint in South India with the opening of its first Tesla Experience Centre in Chennai and a Tesla-Approved Collision Centre and service facility in Poonamallee.
The Chennai Experience Centre, located at Express Avenue Mall on Pattullos Road, will allow customers in Chennai and across Tamil Nadu to experience, order and take delivery of Tesla vehicles locally. The new facility will also provide consultation, test drives and vehicle delivery support.
The Poonamallee facility is aimed at strengthening Tesla’s after-sales and ownership support in the region. It will provide access to genuine Tesla parts, professionally trained technicians, software-aware diagnostics and collision repairs carried out to Tesla standards.
Tesla said the expansion is intended to reduce vehicle downtime while giving owners access to country-wide service and warranty coverage. The facilities will also support vehicle safety, performance and resale value through approved repair processes and genuine parts.
Model Y priced from ₹50.89 lakh
The 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive, which customers can experience at the Chennai centre, offers storage capacity of up to 2,138 litres and seating for up to five passengers. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and has a range of up to 500 km under the WLTP cycle.
The Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive is priced at ₹50,89,000 in India. Tesla has listed a down payment of ₹6,00,000 and an indicative monthly EMI starting at ₹39,990.
Six-seat Model Y L starts at ₹61.99 lakh
Tesla is also showcasing the Model Y L, an all-wheel-drive SUV designed with a three-row, six-seat configuration. The company says the model offers increased headroom, legroom and comfort, with a WLTP range of up to 681 km.
The Model Y L accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds and provides cargo space of up to 2,539 litres. It is available in India at a starting price of ₹61,99,000, with a ₹6,50,000 down payment and indicative monthly EMI starting at ₹49,990.
Both models receive new capabilities and features through Tesla’s over-the-air software updates. These include access to Grok, Tesla’s AI assistant, which is available in several Indian languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu and Kannada.
Tesla said customers can schedule test drives through its official website or toll-free number. Besides Chennai, Tesla has experience locations in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi and Gurugram.
The indicative EMI figures are based on a seven-year tenor and 8.5% APR under a step-up EMI plan and remain subject to financier approval and other terms and conditions.
