Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd (SWREL), a renewable engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company, has secured a $560 million order from Hassan Allam Construction for the West Minya Solar Power Project in Egypt’s Minya Governorate.
The project comprises a 1,000 MWac solar photovoltaic plant integrated with a 600 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Upon completion, it will be among Egypt’s largest utility-scale renewable energy projects.
Joint venture execution
SWREL will form a 50:50 joint venture with Hassan Allam Construction, one of the leading contractors in Egypt and the MENA region, to execute the project.
The joint venture will undertake the complete engineering, procurement and construction of the solar power plant, including photovoltaic generation facilities, battery energy storage infrastructure, grid interconnection works, transmission facilities and associated balance-of-plant systems.
