Renault has unveiled the new Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160, combining the SUV’s established rugged character with advanced hybrid technology aimed at improving fuel efficiency, performance and everyday driving comfort.
The new model brings together Renault’s hybrid powertrain technology, intelligent energy management systems and a range of engineering enhancements designed to deliver efficiency without compromising the versatility expected of an SUV.
The E-Tech hybrid system is central to the vehicle’s technological package, which also includes Renault’s multi-mode automatic gearbox, advanced battery thermal management and a first-in-segment battery cooling solution.
Hybrid technology at the core
The new Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 incorporates several technologies designed to optimise power delivery and energy use under different driving conditions. Its intelligent energy management systems work alongside the hybrid powertrain to improve efficiency and everyday usability.
The SUV also features frequency-dependent damping technology intended to enhance ride comfort across varying road conditions. The combination of powertrain and chassis technologies is aimed at balancing driving performance with the comfort required for daily commutes and longer journeys.
Renault’s approach is to integrate hybrid technology without requiring customers to change their usual driving habits or where they drive, making electrified mobility more accessible to conventional SUV buyers.
Distinctive SUV styling
The new model retains the Duster’s traditional SUV characteristics, with an emphasis on robustness, practicality and comfort, while incorporating contemporary design elements.
An illuminated DUSTER logo integrated into the front grille gives the vehicle a distinctive road presence and highlights its technology-led positioning.
The new Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 reflects Renault’s effort to combine the familiar appeal of its SUV range with improved efficiency and advanced engineering, targeting customers seeking a more sophisticated driving experience without sacrificing everyday practicality.
Renault Group India, Chief Executive Officer, Stephane Deblaise said, “With more than one million E-Tech strong hybrid vehicles sold worldwide since 2020, the E-Tech strong hybrid is a proven Renault powertrain technology. Now, we are bringing it to India as part of our futuREady India roadmap. Our approach is to bring to the Indian customers the best of Renault’s global technologies, while developing cars, powertrains and features specifically for Indian needs through our engineering and design centres in Chennai, our biggest outside Europe. The Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 is a clear example of this approach.”
Renault Group India Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Francisco Hidalgo, said, “In the Duster segment, nearly half of all diesel vehicles are sold in the ₹17–20 lakh price band, and that rises to more than 90% for diesel automatics. That is exactly where the Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 comes in. Starting at ₹16.99 lakh, right at the heart of this market, we believe it is the smarter choice for customers considering diesel, combining significantly lower fuel consumption with a quieter, smoother and more sophisticated driving experience, without requiring customers to change how or where they drive.”
