Welspun Corp Ltd, a manufacturer of large-diameter steel pipes and pipeline solutions, has approved an investment of up to $115 million to expand its spiral pipe manufacturing capacity in the United States, supported by a strong order book and long-term demand visibility in the oil and gas sector.
The company will establish an additional helical submerged arc welded (HSAW) pipe manufacturing facility at its existing location in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The expansion is expected to increase its US manufacturing capacity by 225,000 tonnes per annum.
Capacity to increase by 225,000 tonnes
Welspun Corp currently has HSAW pipe manufacturing capacity of 350,000 tonnes per annum in the US. The proposed expansion will add another 225,000 tonnes per annum, taking the total capacity to 575,000 tonnes annually.
The new facility is expected to become operational in March 2028. The investment will be funded through internal accruals.
Demand visibility supports expansion
The company said the investment was driven by its robust order book and strong demand for oil and gas pipeline projects in the US market.
The additional capacity is expected to strengthen Welspun Corp’s ability to serve pipeline infrastructure requirements and support its long-term growth in the North American market.
