Air India Express has introduced new uniforms for its cabin crew and frontline employees across its network, giving the teams who interact with guests every day a refreshed look as the airline continues to evolve its brand and guest experience.
Rolled out from September 1, the new uniforms are being introduced across cabin crew, airport services, aviation security and flight operations teams.
The refreshed attire extends the airline’s ‘Tales of India’ initiative beyond its aircraft and into everyday interactions with guests. Under the initiative, Air India Express has introduced distinctive aircraft tail art inspired by India’s indigenous art forms, crafts and cultural heritage.
Indian heritage meets contemporary design
The new uniforms draw design inspiration from traditional textiles and crafts from across India, incorporating elements influenced by Tamil Nadu’s Kanjeevaram, Himachal Pradesh’s Pattu, Gujarat’s Patola, Assam’s Gamosa and Madhya Pradesh’s Bagh.
The designs seek to reflect the connections Air India Express creates across different regions, cultures and communities.
Contemporary silhouettes inspired by the traditional kurti, combined with tailored jackets, scarves and pocket squares, bring together Indian design sensibilities with modern styling.
Air India Group Head, Marketing, E-Commerce & Loyalty, Sunil Suresh, said the airline’s frontline teams play a key role in shaping the guest experience.
“Our frontline teams shape some of the most memorable moments in every guest’s journey, and these new uniforms are designed to reflect their energy, professionalism and warmth,” he said.
Suresh said the uniforms represent more than a refreshed appearance and reflect the evolution of Air India Express, with an emphasis on creating a consistent experience across aircraft, airports and onboard services.
“Inspired by the spirit of our Tales of India initiative, the uniforms thoughtfully bring together cultural authenticity, comfort and functionality for our teams,” he added.
Xpress colours reinforce brand identity
The uniforms are anchored in Air India Express’ Xpress Blue palette and feature accents in its signature Xpress Orange.
The colour combination is designed to reinforce the airline’s energetic brand personality while creating a consistent visual identity across its various guest touchpoints.
Designed with frontline operations in mind
The uniform project has also been developed with a focus on the practical requirements of airline operations.
Air India Express designer Pooja Krishnan designed the uniforms in-house, bringing an understanding of the operational requirements and working conditions of frontline airline teams.
Krishnan led the design for female cabin crew, airport services, aviation security and flight operations personnel. The men’s cabin crew uniform was developed in collaboration with Trent Limited.
The uniforms are crafted using banana crepe fabric, selected for its comfort, breathability, durability and elegant drape.
Air India Express said the design and fabric combination is intended to enable frontline employees to carry out their responsibilities comfortably while presenting a polished and cohesive appearance.
The new uniforms form part of the airline’s broader transformation of its guest experience, combining contemporary design with elements of India’s cultural diversity.
