AstraZeneca has appointed Naveen Krishna Yamarthi as Managing Director of AstraZeneca India Pvt Ltd (AZIPL) and Head of its Global Innovation & Technology Centre (GITC) in Chennai, effective October 30, 2026.
Expanded leadership mandate
In his expanded role, Yamarthi will lead the next phase of evolution of the Chennai centre as a strategic, multi-functional innovation hub. He will leverage his experience in building and transforming Global Capability Centres (GCCs) to strengthen the centre’s role as an innovation engine, supporting AstraZeneca’s Bold Ambition 2030 strategy.
Over 22 years of experience
Yamarthi brings more than 22 years of experience in building and scaling GCCs, with expertise in technology and business transformation.
At AstraZeneca, he previously held key leadership positions in Operations IT, leading IT Capability and IT Solutions & Service Delivery for the company’s Global Supply Chain, Global Procurement and Manufacturing business units.
Earlier leadership role
Before joining AstraZeneca, Yamarthi was Managing Director of Enlighted Energy Systems Private Limited, where he established its Global Capability Centres.
His experience in setting up and scaling GCCs is expected to support AstraZeneca’s plans to further develop its Chennai facility as a strategic hub with a wider innovation and technology mandate.
