Zelio E-Mobility has strengthened its manufacturing footprint with the inauguration of a new production facility in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, as the electric two and three-wheeler maker accelerates its expansion in South India.
The new facility, spread across approximately 39,000 sq. ft., will support electric scooter assembly, storage, logistics and allied operations. It will primarily cater to customers across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and South Maharashtra.
Capacity gets a major boost
The Coimbatore plant has an installed production and assembly capacity of 60,000 electric two-wheelers annually. During the initial phase, the company expects to manufacture and assemble 24,000-30,000 units a year, with production scaling up in line with market demand.
With the commissioning of the new facility, Zelio E-Mobility’s total installed manufacturing capacity has increased from 1.8 lakh units to 2.4 lakh units per annum, representing a 33% expansion.
The company said the new plant follows the same manufacturing standards, quality protocols and operating processes as its existing facilities.
Focus on southern markets
Zelio E-Mobility expects the Coimbatore plant to play a pivotal role in strengthening its presence across southern India over the next 12-24 months.
The facility is expected to improve dealer penetration, enhance after-sales service, strengthen supply chain efficiency and contribute significantly to the company’s revenue, profitability and market share in the region.
The plant will manufacture electric two-wheelers from the company’s existing product portfolio, while details of upcoming models will be announced later.
Employment generation
The Coimbatore facility currently employs 30 direct workers and is expected to add around 100 more employees over the coming months.
The expansion forms part of Zelio E-Mobility’s broader plan to cross 500 employees during the current financial year.
Major milestone
Zelio E-Mobility Managing Director Kunal Arya said, “The launch of our Coimbatore facility marks a major milestone in Zelio E-Mobility’s growth journey. South India represents one of the most promising electric mobility markets in the country, and this expansion strengthens our ability to serve customers, dealers and partners with greater speed and efficiency.”
He added that the facility would play a key role in improving supply chain responsiveness while supporting the company’s next phase of growth and its commitment to accelerating EV adoption in India.
Manufacturing network expands
The Coimbatore unit joins Zelio E-Mobility’s existing manufacturing facilities at Ladwa and Patan in Haryana and Cuttack in Odisha, further strengthening its nationwide production network.
The expansion comes amid strong business momentum for the company. Zelio E-Mobility reported an 81.8% year-on-year increase in revenue to ₹313.68 crore in FY26 and has delivered a 121% revenue CAGR over the past four years while remaining profitable since inception.
Following its successful BSE SME listing in October 2025, where it raised ₹78.34 crore, the company has continued to expand its manufacturing base and dealer network, which now spans more than 400 dealerships across over 25 states. It plans to increase the network to more than 550 dealerships by FY27.
