CW Bureau ·

YES Bank will leverage its partnership with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), strengthen governance and accelerate retail growth as it pursues its ambition of becoming one of India’s most trusted private sector banks.

The private sector bank will focus on customer trust, technology, people and governance while building a unified banking franchise under its “One YES BANK” strategy.

One YES BANK vision

“My ambition is clear: to build YES BANK into one of India’s most trusted, diversified and globally connected private sector banks, said its Managing Director & CEO Vinay M. Tonse said in a letter to shareholders.

“We want to create an institution where customers experience excellence, employees find purpose and shareholders benefit from long-term value creation,” he said.

“At the heart of this vision is ‘One YES BANK’, where every business, function and channel operates in synergy. Our success will be built on our people, strong governance and customer trust, supported by our focus on people, products, processes and technology,” he said.

SMBC partnership

Tonse said YES Bank is in its strongest position in recent years, backed by a stronger balance sheet, improving profitability and a better credit profile.

The bank will leverage its strategic partnership with SMBC to expand corporate banking, strengthen cross-border business and enhance governance standards.

Digital leadership

YES Bank continues to play a key role in India’s digital payments ecosystem.

The bank processes nearly one in every three digital payment transactions in the country, handling around 19 billion transactions every month. It also holds leadership positions across UPI, AePS, NEFT and NACH.

Growth priorities

“As we look to the future, the Bank is well positioned for sustained value creation. While global uncertainties remain, India’s structural strengths and the Bank’s disciplined approach provide confidence in our ability to navigate challenges and capitalise on emerging opportunities,” said Chairman Rama Subramaniam Gandhi.

“In FY27, we will focus on sustaining deposit growth, accelerating our retail assets and credit card businesses, expanding merchant acquiring and advancing financial inclusion. Together, we are building a bank that will serve India’s aspirations for generations to come,” said Executive Director Rajan Pental.
