MobiKwik Expands Digital Forex Offering To Six Currencies

CW Bureau ·

MobiKwik has expanded its FX Retail offering from a single-currency service to a six-currency platform, adding the UAE dirham (AED), Canadian dollar (CAD), British pound (GBP), euro (EUR) and Swiss franc (CHF) to its existing US dollar offering.

The expansion makes MobiKwik the only private player to offer a multi-currency FX Retail solution in partnership with NPCI Bharat BillPay Ltd (NBBL). The expanded service was launched at the Global Fintech Fest 2026 in the presence of Rohit Jain, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India.

Wider forex access
The expanded offering is aimed at meeting the growing and more diverse foreign exchange requirements of Indians travelling, studying or transacting overseas. Customers can digitally book foreign currency, top up Forex cards and remit funds overseas through the MobiKwik app.

While currency notes can be collected through branches, remittances can be processed through bank redirection and branch channels, giving customers multiple fulfilment options.

The service is powered by NBBL in collaboration with the Clearing Corporation of India Ltd (CCIL) and is available through the Bharat Connect ecosystem.

MobiKwik had launched its digital foreign exchange offering at GFF 2025, initially supporting US dollar transactions. The expansion comes as the Forex category on Bharat Connect has gained traction.

NBBL processed Forex transactions worth ₹111.91 million during the first four months of FY2026-27. These transactions are processed in partnership with provider banks and participating payment platforms.

Bank-linked pricing
The platform uses live bank-linked pricing, which MobiKwik said is designed to provide greater transparency and convenience to customers accessing foreign exchange digitally. Customers can also benefit from same-day fulfilment, subject to applicable regulatory requirements and service conditions.

“At MobiKwik, our goal is to use technology to simplify everyday financial experiences. As more Indians travel, study and transact overseas, their foreign exchange requirements are becoming increasingly diverse. With our multi-currency offering, we are addressing these needs through a simple, seamless experience on the MobiKwik app,” said MobiKwik Co-founder, MD & CEO Bipin Preet Singh.

“By bringing multiple currencies together with transparent, bank-linked pricing, we are making foreign exchange more accessible, convenient and easy to manage for customers,” he added.

Transaction limits
The current offering is available to resident individuals, subject to PAN and primary-account-holder validation.

Customers can transact up to USD 3,000 equivalent per transaction for currency notes and USD 10,000 equivalent per transaction for card and remittance services. Equivalent limits apply across the supported currencies.

The expansion strengthens MobiKwik’s broader digital financial services proposition by bringing foreign exchange booking, Forex card top-ups and overseas remittances into a single digital interface.

With international travel, overseas education and cross-border financial requirements becoming increasingly common, the move also reflects the broader shift towards digitising traditionally branch-driven foreign exchange services.
