Global aviation software provider Ramco Systems has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Safran Helicopter Engines, a leading manufacturer of rotorcraft turbine engines, to enable seamless integration of engine data with Ramco’s aviation software.
The collaboration is aimed at improving the flow of engine information from Safran to the maintenance information system (MIS) within Ramco Aviation Software, reducing manual data entry for helicopter operators and helping them improve maintenance efficiency and aircraft availability.
Under the MoU, the two companies will work towards enabling engine information generated after shop visits at Safran to flow directly into Ramco’s aviation software.
The collaboration will also lead to Safran Helicopter Engines awarding its EngineLife Connect label to the solution. The label identifies connectivity solutions that are compatible with Safran Helicopter Engines’ range of products and services.
Automating engine data exchange
As part of the partnership, Ramco and Safran will work on enabling the automatic ingestion of key engine information into Ramco Aviation Software.
This will include engine configuration, usage metrics, operating hours and maintenance events, helping improve data accuracy and consistency across maintenance operations.
The companies will also jointly evaluate data exchange formats and establish operational processes to ensure continued compatibility and reliable data exchange.
Building a connected MRO ecosystem
The collaboration will focus on developing a technical link that enables Safran’s engine information to be directly loaded into Ramco’s aviation software, making the data ready for use by operators.
The companies will also define joint business processes to support a reliable and continuous two-way flow of data between Safran and Ramco.
Improved data connectivity is expected to strengthen the digital services Safran provides to its customers while helping helicopter operators streamline maintenance workflows.
Benefits for helicopter operators
For operators, the integration is expected to reduce the time and effort required to initialise engine data within their maintenance information systems.
It will also improve the structure, quality and consistency of maintenance data, supporting airworthiness management and maintenance planning.
By reducing manual intervention, the partnership could help maintenance teams spend less time on data entry and more time on core maintenance activities aimed at keeping aircraft in service.
Ramco strengthens digital aviation ecosystem
Ramco Systems Executive Vice President & SBU Head, Aviation, Aerospace and Defense Sam Jacob said the company is positioned at the intersection of the aviation MRO ecosystem, with several major helicopter operators using its platform.

He said the partnership with Safran Helicopter Engines would enable a seamless digital exchange, allowing Safran to gain richer engine maintenance data while operators receive OEM information directly within their systems.
According to Jacob, the integration will reduce manual work and improve productivity.
