Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has named its much-anticipated upcoming intelligent SUV Hyundai BAYON, marking the beginning of a new product chapter for the automaker in India.
The new SUV will add to Hyundai’s existing SUV portfolio as the company looks to combine technology, design and everyday usability for a new generation of Indian customers.
Hyundai said BAYON has been developed around its global design and product philosophy, with a focus on what it describes as an intelligent mobility experience. The SUV brings together innovation, expression and emotion, with technology positioned as an integral part of the customer experience.
A new approach to intelligent mobility
Hyundai Motor India Ltd Managing Director & CEO Tarun Garg said BAYON represents more than the launch of another SUV and reflects a new mindset for the company.
“With Hyundai BAYON, we are introducing more than a new SUV. BAYON represents a new mindset – one that reflects our ambition to create experiences that are intelligent, intuitive and meaningful for our customers,” said Tarun Garg, Managing Director & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited.
He said Hyundai sees every new product as an opportunity to push the boundaries of mobility experiences, while ensuring that technology remains effortless and seamlessly integrated into everyday life.
“We have once again challenged ourselves to pursue perfection in the details that matter, while staying true to our belief that technology creates its greatest value when it becomes effortless and seamlessly integrated into our customers’ everyday lives,” Garg said.
Why Hyundai chose BAYON
The name BAYON draws inspiration from Bayonne, a city in France’s Basque Country known for its distinctive character and dynamic spirit.
According to Hyundai, the name reflects its global design philosophy while signalling the arrival of an SUV created for an evolving Indian market. The company has associated the name with a sense of exhilaration, adventure and a new spirit of mobility.
The name also forms part of Hyundai’s broader storytelling around the new SUV, linking its global identity with the product’s India-focused positioning.
‘Intelligence ON’
Hyundai has unveiled the name through a film built around technology and storytelling. Set in a futuristic, next-generation laboratory environment, the film shows a series of intelligent elements coming together piece by piece to form the name BAYON.
The sequence is designed to symbolise the emergence of a greater intelligence and a new expression of Hyundai’s design, technology and innovation.
The film ends with the message “Intelligence ON”, positioning intelligence as a central theme of the new SUV.

For Hyundai, the upcoming model will add another product to its SUV-led strategy in India, with the company seeking to combine its global design approach with technology-led features aimed at changing customer expectations in the Indian market.
