Hero MotoCorp has appointed Srihari Mulgund as its new Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) with effect from August 17, 2026, as the two-wheeler major strengthens its strategic leadership for its next phase of growth.
Mulgund brings over 24 years of experience spanning engineering, product development and strategy planning across the global automotive sector. His professional experience across the US, Japan, China and India has given him extensive cross-cultural exposure and a broad understanding of diverse automotive markets.
Before joining Hero MotoCorp, Mulgund was a Partner at EY-Parthenon, where he led strategic engagements across electric vehicles (EVs), batteries, internal combustion engine (ICE) technologies, supply value chains and the new-age mobility ecosystem.
His earlier career includes key roles at Aisin AW and FEV Inc., as well as serving as President of Ricardo Strategic Consulting, India.
Focus on future mobility
Mulgund has also authored thought-leadership papers covering emerging automotive technologies and mobility trends, including battery swapping, software-defined vehicles, alternate battery chemistries and hydrogen ICE technologies.
Hero MotoCorp said his combination of industry knowledge and understanding of technology, market dynamics and value creation would help shape and advance the company’s forward-looking strategic initiatives, including its House of Strategy.
The appointment comes at a time when the global automotive industry is undergoing rapid technological and structural changes, with electrification, software-defined vehicles, alternative powertrains and evolving mobility models reshaping competitive strategies.
With his experience spanning both automotive engineering and strategy consulting, Mulgund is expected to bring a technology-led and market-oriented perspective to Hero MotoCorp’s strategic planning.
Strong academic credentials
Mulgund holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Engineering, Mysore, an MS from the University of Toledo, and an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
His appointment as Chief Strategy Officer is effective August 17, 2026.
