Maruti Suzuki India Ltd’s upcoming new Brezza has secured a 5-star safety rating for both Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP) under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP), ahead of its market launch on July 24.
The certification further strengthens Maruti Suzuki’s growing portfolio of top-rated vehicles, as the country’s largest carmaker steps up its focus on vehicle safety amid rising consumer expectations and stricter regulatory standards.
Expands 5-star safety portfolio
With the latest rating, the new Brezza joins the company’s lineup of Bharat NCAP five-star-rated models, including the Dzire, VICTORIS, Invicto and the e VITARA.
Maruti Suzuki said the compact SUV has been equipped with an expanded suite of active and passive safety technologies aimed at enhancing occupant protection and preventing accidents.
Enhanced safety package
The new Brezza introduces several advanced driver assistance and safety features, including Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Front Parking Sensors, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Emergency Stop Signal and Safe Exit Warning.
As part of Maruti Suzuki’s ARENA Safety Shield, all variants of the New Brezza will come equipped with six airbags as standard, along with Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Hill Hold Assist, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.
Safety takes centre stage
The latest safety certification reflects the company’s strategy of making advanced safety technologies available across a wider range of models, including entry-level hatchbacks and SUVs.
Maruti Suzuki has been progressively standardising six airbags across its portfolio, responding to increasing customer awareness around vehicle safety.
Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said the Brezza has remained India’s highest-selling compact SUV since its launch in 2016, earning the trust of millions of customers.
“The 5-star Bharat NCAP rating reinforces the confidence customers place in the vehicle. The recognition for the New Brezza reflects our relentless focus on building safer vehicles for Indian roads,” he said.
Takeuchi added that safety remains central to the company’s vehicle development philosophy.
“By making six airbags standard in 16 models and across 160 variants, we have democratised advanced safety, enabling more than 1.6 million new customers to benefit from enhanced occupant protection during FY2025-26. As customer expectations evolve, we remain committed to making advanced safety accessible across every segment, from entry-level cars to SUVs,” he said.
