Hexaware Technologies, a global provider of IT solutions and services, has announced its collaboration with Project NANDA fellowship, a three-month fully remote programme aimed at giving developers hands-on experience in building open-source infrastructure for the emerging internet of AI agents.
The fellowship is hosted by FAN, the umbrella programme behind Project NANDA, with support from Hexaware as part of the company’s participation in the open agentic web ecosystem.
Building the internet of AI agents
The programme focuses on a key challenge emerging alongside the rapid adoption of agentic AI, enabling autonomous AI agents to discover, verify and coordinate with one another at scale.
Fellows will contribute directly to Project NANDA, an initiative that originated at the MIT Media Lab and is developing foundational infrastructure, standards and reference implementations for an open and decentralised internet of AI agents.
Their contributions will feed into the project’s open-source community, with work spanning areas such as agent discovery, verifiable identity and secure coordination across organisational boundaries.
Global developer cohort
The inaugural cohort comprises more than 10 fellows, including Hexaware engineers and external developers selected from a global applicant pool.
Participants will receive a competitive stipend and direct mentorship while working on live open-source infrastructure. Unlike a conventional training programme, the fellowship is designed to enable participants to contribute production-oriented code that can become part of the Project NANDA ecosystem.
The small cohort size is intended to ensure close mentorship and meaningful technical contributions from each fellow.
Focus on agentic AI
For Hexaware, the collaboration has a dual objective — developing the next generation of AI infrastructure engineers while contributing to the open-source ecosystem shaping the open agentic web.
The fellowship complements Hexaware’s investments in agentic AI, including its AI delivery layer, Zerovity. It also expands the company’s engagement with research and developer communities working on the infrastructure required for AI agents to operate across organisations and systems.
Applications open worldwide
Applications for the Project NANDA fellowship are open to developers worldwide. The priority review deadline is September 19, 2026, with applications received by that date receiving priority consideration.
