Tata Motors Ltd, a leading automotive company, through its wholly owned subsidiary TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd (TSCMSL), has acquired a 26% stake in Mateshwari E-Smart Mobility (Hyderabad) Pvt Ltd (MEMHPL) for a cash consideration of ₹2.60 lakh.

The stake was acquired from the existing shareholders, making MEMHPL an associate company of Tata Motors. MEMHPL was incorporated on August 11, 2026, to carry out business in the e-mobility sector.

Acquisition linked to electric bus operations

Tata Motors, through TSCMSL, participates in tenders issued by various municipal corporations for the operation and maintenance of electric buses.

TSCMSL, along with Mateshwari Urban Transport Solutions Pvt Ltd, the holding company of MEMHPL, has been awarded a tender for the operation and maintenance of electric buses under the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation.

Tender award drives investment

The acquisition of MEMHPL is intended to support the operation and maintenance of electric buses under the awarded tender and falls within the business objects of Tata Motors.

As MEMHPL was incorporated recently, turnover is not applicable. The company was established to undertake e-mobility-related business.

MEMHPL becomes related party after acquisition

Tata Motors said the acquisition does not constitute a related party transaction. However, following the acquisition, MEMHPL has become an associate company and will consequently be treated as a related party.

The transaction strengthens Tata Motors’ participation in the electric bus operations and maintenance segment through its wholly owned subsidiary.
