Karur Vysya Bank Opens 16 Branches In A Single Day, Network Reaches 919

CW Bureau ·

Karur Vysya Bank (KVB) has expanded its physical banking footprint with the inauguration of 16 new branches in a single day, taking its branch network to 919 across India.

The expansion strengthens the private sector lender’s presence across key markets in southern India and the Delhi NCR region, with the new branches spread across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Delhi NCR.

Of the 16 new branches, six are in Tamil Nadu, five in Andhra Pradesh, three in Telangana and one each in Karnataka and Delhi NCR.

Single-day expansion
The simultaneous branch launches mark a significant step in KVB’s ongoing expansion strategy. Ramesh Babu, Managing Director & CEO of Karur Vysya Bank, inaugurated the new Gachibowli branch in Hyderabad and opened the remaining branches virtually through a video conference.

The bank is targeting a mix of metropolitan, urban, semi-urban and rural markets, with the new branches expected to serve retail customers as well as micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and agricultural businesses.

The expansion also complements KVB’s growing digital banking infrastructure, giving customers the option of combining physical branch access with digital services.

“We continue to expand our branch network in markets where we see good business potential and an opportunity to deepen our relationship with customers. While digital banking has made everyday transactions much easier, branches continue to play an important role, particularly for our MSME, retail and agricultural customers,” said Karur Vysya Bank Managing Director & CEO, Ramesh Babu. “The new branches will help us get closer to customers and offer them the convenience of both personalised service and digital banking,” he added.

Where the new branches are
The new branches are located at Indhresham, Gachibowli and Kokapet in Telangana; Chennai-Thirumangalam, Erode-Chithode, Sivagangai, Salem-Ammapet, Salem-Jagirrammapalayam and Kancheepuram-Sevilimedu in Tamil Nadu; Vijayawada-Ramavarapadu, Jaggayyapeta, Sompeta, Vizag-Kancharapalem and Rajahmundry-Konthamuru in Andhra Pradesh; Udupi in Karnataka; and Gurugram-Udyog Vihar in Delhi NCR.

The geographic spread reflects KVB’s focus on building deeper relationships with customers beyond its traditional markets while strengthening its presence in high-growth business centres.

Business crosses ₹2.27 lakh crore
The branch expansion comes amid continued growth in KVB’s business. As of June 30, 2026, the bank’s total business stood at ₹2,27,267 crore, comprising deposits of ₹1,22,587 crore and advances of ₹1,04,680 crore.

KVB reported its highest-ever quarterly net profit of ₹756 crore in Q1FY27, providing further momentum to its expansion plans.

The lender has been pursuing a strategy that combines branch-led customer acquisition with investments in technology and digital banking.

Digital banking push
Alongside expanding its physical network, KVB continues to strengthen its digital banking capabilities through KVB DLite, its mobile banking application.

The platform offers more than 150 financial and non-financial services, enabling customers to access a broad range of banking services through their smartphones.

The bank’s latest branch rollout therefore underlines a phygital banking strategy, with physical branches focused on relationship-driven services and digital channels handling everyday transactions and self-service requirements.

With 919 branches now operational nationwide and business continuing to expand, KVB is seeking to use a wider physical network and digital infrastructure to deepen its reach among retail, MSME and agricultural customers
