Thomas Cook Launches Cross-Border Rewards For Its Forex Card Customers

CW Bureau ·

Thomas Cook India has introduced what it describes as an industry-first cross-border rewards programme for its forex card customers, enabling international travellers to earn rewards on overseas spending across leading global brands.

The initiative comes as Indian travellers increasingly adopt digital and contactless payment methods for overseas transactions, ranging from transportation and dining to shopping and lifestyle purchases.

Rewards for overseas spending
Under the programme, customers using Thomas Cook India’s Forex Cards will receive 10% rewards-back on point-of-sale (POS), contactless and e-commerce transactions at participating international brands, including Starbucks, McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King, Grab, Careem and 7-Eleven.

Customers can earn cashback on a minimum spend of $25 per merchant, with rewards capped at up to $10 per day across participating merchants. The rewards will be issued in the form of Amazon vouchers, subject to applicable terms and qualifying spend thresholds.

Significant opportunity to drive greater usage
“International travellers today expect their payment solutions to be as seamless and rewarding as the travel experience itself. While prepaid forex cards are already a secure and cost-efficient way to manage overseas spending, we see a significant opportunity to drive greater usage for everyday purchases abroad,” said Thomas Cook (India) Ltd Chief Business Officer, Foreign Exchange, Deepesh Varma.

He added: “Our industry-first cross-border rewards programme has been designed to encourage customers to actively transact using their Borderless Travel Card across transport, dining, retail and lifestyle categories while earning meaningful benefits in return. The initiative also supports our broader objective of accelerating the shift from cash withdrawals to secure, contactless and digital-first payment solutions.”

Driving digital payments abroad
Thomas Cook India expects the rewards programme to encourage greater use of prepaid forex cards for day-to-day international purchases while reducing dependence on cash withdrawals.

The company believes rewarding spending across travel, dining and lifestyle categories will strengthen customer engagement and increase repeat card usage among overseas travellers.

Enhanced forex card proposition
The rewards programme is available across all Thomas Cook India’s Visa and Mastercard Forex Cards and complements existing features such as multi-currency support, global acceptance and integration with digital payment platforms including Google Pay.

The launch follows the company’s recent expansion of its Borderless Travel Card to support 28 currencies, aimed at offering greater convenience and flexibility to international travellers.

With outbound travel from India continuing to rise, the company is positioning its forex card offerings as a secure, digital-first alternative for managing overseas expenses.
