Narayana Health Bets On Paid Clinics, Digital Care For Next Growth Phase

CW Bureau ·

Narayana Hrudayalaya Ltd plans to expand its neighbourhood clinic network, scale digital healthcare and strengthen its oncology platform as part of its long-term growth strategy.

The company is also expanding its global healthcare footprint while investing in affordable and technology-driven healthcare solutions.

Subscription-based care

“Primary care in India remains largely unorganised and disjointed. To bridge this structural gap, we decided to launch a strategic network of neighbourhood clinics surrounding our core hospitals in Bengaluru,” said Chairman & Founder Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty.

“We embraced a subscription-based membership model that dramatically reduces the cost of outpatient care. We are now in the advanced stages of launching this model at our upcoming Banashankari Hospital, which we believe will redefine preventive and affordable healthcare,” he said in a message to the shareholders.

Global expansion

Narayana Health established its first international hospital in the Cayman Islands, followed by a second hospital and an integrated health insurance business in the country.

The company also acquired Practice Plus Group hospitals in England last year, making it the only Indian healthcare group with hospital operations across Asia, Europe and the Caribbean.

Technology-led healthcare

“Globally, nearly 80% of hospitals still lack an electronic medical record platform because traditional enterprise software is prohibitively expensive. Our Athma team has taken the decision to develop an open-source hospital information platform to address this gap,” he said.

The company said digital innovation will remain central to improving accessibility, affordability and quality of healthcare services.

FY27 priorities

“As we look to 2026-27, our priorities are clear: deepen the culture of safety, extend digitalisation across medication, diagnostics and documentation, and continue scaling our clinics, insurance and oncology platforms as engines of long-term growth,” said Managing Director & Group CEO Dr. Emmanuel Rupert.

“Narayana Health Cancer Care will focus on expanding tertiary and quaternary oncology programmes, scaling robot-assisted cancer surgery, strengthening bone marrow transplantation, advancing precision medicine and molecular diagnostics, and accelerating digital innovation to improve patient outcomes,” he said.
