Efectis, a global fire safety and explosion risk management company, has opened a new fire testing facility in Chennai following the acquisition of a majority stake in AADIT, founded by entrepreneurs Anil Agarwal and Jothi Ramalingam.
The launch of Efectis India marks a significant step in the group’s long-term expansion in India.
New facility to support fire testing
Efectis, which has more than 70 years of experience as a testing institute, said the Chennai facility will conduct fire tests based on Indian, European and international standards.
The Chennai facility is the first international fire testing laboratory in India and will be operated by a local team, supported by more than 300 fire experts from Efectis.
Services to cover multiple sectors
Efectis India will provide services including fire safety engineering, testing, certification, inspection, risk assessment, technical audits, training and compliance support.
The company said its investment is aimed at supporting safer construction, transportation and energy development in India, while also supporting international industrial investment in the country.
Focus on safer infrastructure

We want to build lasting partnerships with Indian stakeholders, contribute to skills development and support the creation of safer, more resilient infrastructure and industrial projects across the country,” Efectis Group, President, Daniel Joyeux, said.
Through engineering expertise, testing and certification capabilities, technical training and regulatory support, Efectis India aims to work with stakeholders across India’s construction, infrastructure, industrial and energy sectors.
Global expertise to support India
Efectis said its Indian operations will draw on the group’s international expertise and testing capabilities to support local requirements.
The group carried out more than 20,000 tests worldwide in 2025, highlighting the scale of its global testing operations.
Chennai launch marks India entry
The official launch of Efectis India was held in Chennai at an event organised with the support of Business France.
The company said its India operations will focus on supporting the country’s rapidly developing construction, infrastructure, industrial and energy sectors through fire safety expertise, testing and compliance services.
